My 2G has a leak that's hard to find. After a day sitting in the rain, there is about 2 cups of water on the rear drivers side floor and the spare tire compartment. Taking out the rear seats, I find the foam under neath is wet. I poured a big pitcher of water at each drain hole: the two holes in the hatch and the four corners of my sun roof, All drain quickly, and nothing was noticeably wet.

Next, I poured water along the roof were there is a gutter above the door. It seemed the carpet got a little moist. How do those gutters above the doors work? How do you get at them to test and repair?

rain link.... How does that work :)

but seriously... i would have a friend help you and sit in the car with as much trim removed as possible and have your buddy blast the outside of the car one section at a time with the hose and see where its leaking...

most leaks are just seals wearing out over time... shouldn't be hard or expensive to replace.

Solved

Took all my interior panels off including the trunk panels. That's when I noticed water stains from the location of the power antenna and driver side rear spoiler. Test with water confirmed the leak. A year ago I took the car in to a body shop to get a rear light area fixed. It was a minor job and since it didn't rain all year, I didn't connect the two. Basically they didn't install 2 of the special plastic anchors that prevents water leaks and they didn't tighten the antenna enough.

So here is the important point for others dealing with rain leaks: A leak at the rear spoiler can send water all the way to the rear seat floor area. Look for water stains and rust as the tell tale signs of where the leaks are coming from.
