So I just purchased a 1995 eagle talon tsi awd as in my area they are very hard to come by let alone in good running condition. And I would very much like to keep it but need help with something I can not seem to find on here. At least not directly
So I imagine I have a few issues at hand but I will mention them incase they have anything to do with it.
So I purchased the car not to long ago and it appeared to drive great compared to the other talon/gsx s I've driven however it had a few issues some of which confused me here's the list
-heat temperature gauge on dash does not work (I have trye changing the thermostat)-- the heat does not work temperature control gauge does work but the change in temperature is so minamal that it seems as if it dosnt work.
Now the main issue is after I drive the car for say 2 hours when it is obviously hot (temp gauge dosnt work) 2 major things happen
1. It becomes difficult to shift gears. My clutch it's self seems short as it is but I have adjusted it under the dash as much as I can and it does not seem to be low on fluid. It also grinds when I try to put it in reverse (only when really hot after at least an hour of driving)
2. At this same time when the car would obviously be really hot if I shut off my car and then go to start it again before it cools off the idle will surge and go very low and almost stall. When it's at the point it's really hot it may actually not start the first time (although it will always crank over then die) but the engine will shake and then it will start and throw the engine light on.
This is where I first code read the car and got the p0340 camshaft position sensor code. I used a code reader at that point to erase the code to see if that's what the guy who sold it to me did. If you clear the code at that time and begin driving if it does not come back on within 10 seconds the light will not pop back up
It seems as if the light has nothing to do with actually driving or shifting the car. Only with startup however I want to be able to drive the car without worries about what will happen when the car gets hot or if the problem will get worse.
I have since trye looking this up and have been able to undetermined what to do.
I know the timing belt was recently done as well as the clutch was replaced 35000 km ago if it makes a different
So what am I looking for....
Any advice on how to fix any of these issues.
Someone to tell me if there is a difference between a cam angle sensor and a camshaft position sensor on a 1995 talon tsi awd with the stock 7 bolt. (Different posts seem to have different info on this)
Could this just be the sensor that needs replacing? And if so where is the sensor?
Is this the cam angle sensor located behind the pulley attached to the pulley connected to the timing belt? I will attach a photo. And if that is the sensor fo I have to remove the timing belt to get to it.
Please help
