Different Cam Angle Sensor

Why I see some of the CAM ANGLE SENSORS on our cars are slighly different?

If you pay attention to it, one is with a connector facing upward and the other one is facing downward.

Are they both interchangable if I need to replace one?

when the 1gs switched to 7 bolt engines they also switched to a black cap cas (which the cap of is black and plastic) that wont work with your car. I believe the 1990 is different then all the rest.
