Hey everyone,

To start off, I just want to say that while there are some threads I saw on this same problem, they were pretty old, and the creators either did not ever figure the problem out, or forgot what they did:ohdamn:

Problem:
(From a stop) When I am on an upward incline (requiring more clutch modulation/gas) I get a strong, sometimes rhythmic vibration from somewhere in the front end as I finish slipping the clutch and start accelerating (more towards the passenger side). This vibration only lasts about 1-2 seconds. The vibration is directly related to how aggressively I slip the clutch (slow and smooth = no vibration). There is also a smaller, but similar vibration when I am cruising and I accelerate (not present while coasting/maintaining speed).

Has anyone had a similar issue?? Fixes?

I had a front end vibration that would ONLY rear its head while accelerating.

It turned out to be the tread in one small spot on my tire separating. Cruising was perfect, but as soon as I would accelerate the separated portion would "cup", effectively causing a lump on the tire.

This was visually impossible to spot. I ended up just buying new tires, because I had a gut feeling that it was the problem, even after Les Schwab told me my tires were fine.

New tires solved my problem!

BUT, the weird thing about your issue is the clutch involvement. Could it be that you are getting a bit of clutch chatter and the two problems are unrelated? Or are they definitely the same feeling?

new clutch, TOB. Motor/transmission was just rebuilt

The weird thing is that there is no vibration when I change gears (even if I drag the clutch).

@GooeyGus I just had new front tires put on; no difference.

What is the best way to check the motor mounts?

I tried rocking the engine forward and backward, but I couldn't really move it.

with the car off put it in gear and rock the car. if your mounts are in great shape your assy belts will start to spin right away.

Hmmm, I never thought of doing that, thanks!

I will report back after I test that out.
