Thanks that helps out alot. I was looking at this turbo since I been researching it has great spool time the PTE SC-5031E 50 Trim and can handle up to 450 HP(over my goal)

Slowboy Racing :: DSM :: Turbos :: PTE :: T3 Turbine Housing :: PTE SC-5031E (T3 50 Trim with stage 3 turbine wheel)

But what I was wondering about on this turbo, it doesn't say if its internally or externally wastegated? It says with mitsu housing turbos weather or not its internal or external so why not the T3 sytle?

I was also looking into these flanges on ebay, but since its ebay I am asking you guys if this is a bad idea. Its a vband conversion for a T3 setup, which would make the downpipe alot easier to make.

eBay Motors: t3 t3/t4 5bolt downpipe flange to 2.5 v band adaptor (item 290240667488 end time Jun-29-08 12:10:49 PDT)

there are also 3" vband setups but I dunno. Suggestions?

I just finished my 3" v-band setup

It's nice because I don't have to worry about gaskets... and maneuvering a wrench to get the damn downpipe off.

Damn man, I definately admire your patience and hard work putting that thing back together. I don't think you can accept anything other then success at this point.:thumb:

It looks like I may have some clearence issues with a 3" downpipe. If I have a 2 1/2" mandel bent exhaust would that be too restrictive to the setup that I am running?

Oh and the manifolds I have been looking at almost all of them seem to have the external wastegate really really close to the downpipe(log style). I seen some other setups other people have and some don't even have a dump tube attached? I would like this go go back into my exhaust, instead of being open. I have seen the OBX ramhorn, but thats still up in the air from what I been hearing about clearence and the wastegate being to close to the radiator.

Are there any better manifolds out there for us?

Well im back at it! Im figuring out where most of what is needed to get the car done. I got my parts back from the powder coating today and they look great! (jet black). I'll post pictures later on tonight when I get home. Now I am pulling the transmission and getting everything cleaned up. I am taking the engine block and head to a engine shop where I will have it fitted for pisons, rods etc..But I'm kinda torn on what to do. Should I go turbo? (since this is the car I'm also going to keep, I've had it since I was 17) or just stick with minor bolt ons? Here is the catch though I don't have easy access to a dyno or tuning shop in my area and I don't want to put a whole alot of money back into this car...Suggestions??

I loaded up the picture of my valve cover I got back, I have alot of other parts powder coated as well...I just didn't take pictures of them...

I like the way that v/c came out.:thumb:

Here is what I've been working on, I had to fix the rear vent behind the rear bumper that was leaking water into my trunk. I finished that yesterday.

Today I pulled the transmission, I know I ruined one of the CV boots while trying to get them out of the transmission. Hopefully I can get that CV boot rebuilt. I am taking the engine to the machine shop later this week to see if I can salvage it.

Don't worry my car isn't being held up with logs, I'm using jack stands I just have that there for a safety just in case the car slips. I am on uneven ground, but I never get under the car unless its on a level garage with concrete floor. :thumb:

also what can I use to clean up the engine bay from all that dirt and oil? before I put a new rebuilt engine in?

For a car that has been sitting out in the rain, it sure looks to be in good shape!

Well the engine block is off at the machine shop today, It might be a total loss...they are going to take a look at it and see if a .20 or .40 bore will take the rust out. It may leave pits in the cylinders, if not they may have to sleeve the block :S, So I may just end up buying a used block that is in good shape.

Does anybody know where I can find a good turbo manifold, I have been searching and I don't like the log style manifolds(well some of them). The wastegate outlet is really really close to the downpipe so it would be difficult making a dump tube? Is there a way to turn an external wastegate so it points more toward a clear area? so a dump tube can be made?

I have seen a couple of threads on here and 2gnt about new manifold designs...but they all seem to drop off with no new updates or replies??? What the hell! thats kinda frustrating, and also I would like to add a lot of those posts are really dated...help?

and I still am clueless on what I need to do with my transmission quesion I had a few posts back...

So I got a call earlier this week and the block is good at .20 over. The rust cleaned up real nice. I am shopping for a head right now and some other parts. So in the meantime I been looking at gauge locations and what gauges i'm going to use. I am going to fiberglass the center vent to hold 3 gauges boost, EGT and a wideband. As for the Instrument panel is going to be a oil pressure gauge. I like to keep everything nice and tucked away. I am thinkin about relocating the battery to the rear and installing an emergency cut off, so I can race it at the track.

so what is the point of the emergency cut off? If you have a fuse in between the battery and engine bay souldn't it be fine without? I mean whats the point on having it on the outside of the car? when the fuse should work fine.

As for the transmission I am going to have it rebuilt...might as well do it right the first time, and a LSD installed.

I decided to go with a log style manifold since that seems to be the best for what we can get, unless I go custom...

I will have pics as soon as I get more work done on the car, as for cleaning the engine bay didn't go so well there is still a lot of dirt that I cannot remove with the hose...so to the pressure washer I go

I know it's a little more expensive but carburetor/throttle body cleaner works better than engine cleaner. It will literally make your engine chrome. If that's not enough, use a toothbrush at the same time you are spraying. And if you are good and efficient you can do it all using 1 or 2 cans. Make sure you wipe off the solid grease and then rinse off the rest, you'll be surprised.

Here are pictures as promised....I blame DSMZero for getting me back into building my 95RS. :D

I was wondering about cleaning up the engine block and around some areas that has some rust. Is it safe to sand blast all these areas or is there a better way? I know I would like to paint the outside of the block black. I would like to have all of these areas free of rust, especially the oil pan gasket area...

As for the last two pictures can anybody tell me where these parts goto? they came off the block???

Goal is still 350HP and hopefully a 12sec timeslip...hopefully you guys can help me reach this goal...all help is appreciated as always :thumb:
