2g GS-T cat-back on a N/T?

Sorry for the lame question, I just don't know and my G/F wants her car quieter. Currently it has a 2.5" exhaust on it...so does anyone know if the hangers for the GS-T are in the same spot as the GS? And if the bolt pattern(s) is the same?
 
Yes they do. A GS-T exhaust will fit a Non-Turbo Eclipse. I bought a 3" back for my N/T and it fits fine.

I was looking into getting a full 3" cat back exhaust for my N/T. Has anyone had a problem running a 3" on their N/T? Usually the non turbo models get the 2.5" piping, and i was just wondering if there was a problem with back pressure or anything? Thanks guys.

Well, even though this subject has been cover numerous times in the past, I'll help you out anyway... People don't usually have problems bolting up a 3" exhaust to an N/T, but almost all of those people are turbo'd N/Ts... You aren't going to want a 3" exhaust on your car until you go turbo or you will notice a significant drop in responsiveness and torque... You want some backpressure with an N/T... Even with the breathing mods you have (AEM Short Ram, headers), a 3" would be extremely overkill without a turbo... Stay with the 2.5" on your N/T until you decide to boost if you plan on doing so... There are plenty of other threads about this exact subject... do a few searches and I'm sure you'll find something! And, even though I help everyone and I'm a nice guy, I'll tell you like I tell them... be glad I helped you first, because not everyone will be so nice about answering a question like this that's been answered a ton of times... You'll get flamed hardcore about not searching... and you don't want that! :toobad: Just a friendly reminder! :thumb:

Good call. Only problem is, you're wrong on the back pressure issue. Rather than be condescending, since you were very polite, I'll suggest you do some research into back pressure in exhaust systems yourself. The ideal exhaust system will have zero back pressure. It's all about gas velocity through the system.

To the OP, GST catback is a direct install, even for aftermarket systems, however, going larger than 2.5" is going to reduce your gas velocity and make the car run worse below redline. You'd be well advised to Google something like exhaust system theory, velocity, or back pressure. You want the exhaust to get out as quickly as possible and that means zero back pressure and higher gas velocities.
