Hi guys I searched around the forms and did some reading before posting this but couldn't find any help.

So my car starts up like any other day first time in the morning, runs fine and all no dieing or stall hazatashions however ! If I park and run into the store for say 5 minutes or so and go back out to leave, it won't start, everything turns over all the dash lights work, and if I try and mash the peddal to get gas I smell fuel.

So hears the catch, if I wait in my car for 45 minutes or so, then try to fire it up it starts no problem, I'm getting really sick of this and don't know what else to do any ideas ? Any and all would be great !
If it matters it's an auto ?

Wile trying to fix over time I have replaced !
- starter
- pluges & wires "ngk"
- alternator
- battery
- fuel filter

Please help guys, Its getting close to having another Dsm on craigslist :/

Well no start conditions are pretty easy to diagnose. It's either fuel, air or spark. It almost is never an air issue. You say you smell fuel flooding the engine. I would say it is a spark issue, maybe a bad power transistor?

I can't think of any reasonable explanation for it being a compression problem that resolves after 45 minutes though. I can see where it could be an electrical component that is failing that benefits from cooling off.

Fuel pump has deff been in the back of my mind, but would there be any other symptoms for that ? Wile driving or something ?

Also how would i go about in testing a power trasnistor

& I just remberd one more thing that might help, it's only happened a few times but if it does fire up, it will idle low i have to rev it up then when I shift to drive it almost wants to bog out but won't, but once i drive down the road and stop and a light or something it's fine again, this has only happened a few times.

So then is It looking like a clogged up fuel pump or just kinda looking like it's getting old and worn out, and ive heard that a fuel pumps just up and die with no warning, so that's probley something I should work on fixing fast I'm guessing

Sounds like a fuel pump problem, or a dirty fuel filter to me.

I had a problem like this with my fuel pump once in a firebird I had. My solution for this problem was whenever this were to happen, id get out of the car and kick the gas tank or beat on it a bit and go try to start it and it would fire right up.

My bet is also on the transistor, why would you smell fuel if your pump was the issue with starting? If you sit there and crank on her and she smells pig rich, she is probably pig rich!

I had my transistor leave me stranded like this once, started her up, drove her aggressively, parked her to run in the store. When I walked out, little did I know I was about to have a two day freeze your nuts off diagnostic session in the parking lot of the store with a Montana winter, god I love my DSM.

I would check a manual on diagnosing the transistor, I cant seem to find what I used when I had the issue. Ive also read about people having issues with the cas and having start / no start issues, but ive had no personal experience with it.

PS: For those who live in Montana / those who like little acronyms for DSM, I came up with this one while freezing in the parking lot, "DSM: Dont See in Montana". Next time your in Montana, try and spot one! Bonus points for a Spyder!

If it was the coolant temp sensor would that throw a CEL ? Also the temp Gage isn't going past half way either, would it still be bad without any of them sighns ?

Also anyone want to let me know were to look for this transistor ?

No.
It wont throw a CEL.

The temperature Gauge is teddy and won't move, unless you have a cooling Temperature problem.

And, Regarding to the Transistor.

Sounds like transistor. same thing happened to me. the transistor would get hot. car lost spark. let it sit. Boom!. ran like a champ. they get heat sensitive after while. also my car thought it would be awesome to erode the ground wire on the CAS. Boy was that a fun 7 hours or searching!
