Help Id Ecu With This Part # Md166262

I took it from my running '91 AWD that I am parting out. The car was manufactured in June of 1990. I was told by a yard it would work in a 90 or 91 and an owner of a 90 said 90's were a 1 year only. I want to sell this but need to know what years and models it will fit. Thanks, Mark

CAPS reports the following 1G manual transmission ECU part numbers and their respective manuf. dates:

MD145903 -- 03/89 to 06/90
MD166262 -- 06/90 to 06/92
MD193299 -- 07/92 to 05/93
MD304484 -- 06/93 to 05/94

Unfortunately, it looks like there is some overlap in the 06/90 production dates, so if it is going into a car built in 06/90, it may or may not be the right one.

I have teh md 145903 part number so all i have to do is swap the pins 14 and 6 and it will work in a 91 fwd tsi thats is what your saying

I just bought an ECU, 145903, sockeed for my '93. I swapped pins #6 and #14 on the large harness for my car. Haven't gotten the chip yet but that's what I was told to do. Mark

I have that ecu in my 93 awd it is a eprom ecu from a 91-94

My '93 has the sme # ECU but it is not an EPROM unit.
I bought a '90 ECU, #145903 that was refurbished and socketed so I can run a www.dsmchips.com stage 3 chip. I will be refining my tuning with this keydiver chip as DSMlink is out of my league. The dsmchip continues to be upgraded. Mark

I know this is an old thread but I just bought an eprom with MD166262 and it is an for sure eprom but i dont know if i will have to do the 90 to 91 conversion no big deal but doesn anybody know if that computer was a 90??? i see the manufacture dates for this one overlap..... ????

The MD166262 ECU is used in 91 and 92 model year turbo AWD cars. It is not a 90 ECU.
Production typically switched in June from one model year the the next.
