help!!! i need to find a quiet muffler....

i currently have a 3 inch turboback exhaust which is way too loud. i want to replace the muffler with something that's quiet (a little louder than stock but quiet). suggestions?

Hit up the dingiest, non-chain muffler shop in your town. They'll know just what to use, how to put it in so it won't rattle, and charge less than $250.

Sorry to bring up an old thread but i just thought this was a funny comment. Im looking at getting a 3 inch exhaust right now...already ordered my 3 inch ss downpipe and was wondering what muffler i should go with. Ill prob just end up getting one at the exhaust place thats building my exhaust.

If you want to keep the noise level down, please someone correct me if I am wrong, but would a longer resonator be a good route to go?

yes, a longer resonator will help keep the noise level to a minimum.

For a good sleeper. Long resinator, definitely. A good silencer tip on the muffler.

my greddy evo 2 was a quiet exhaust when i first got it i was disappointed because i wanted something louder. then i installed 3 inch down pipe and that opened it up and gave it a sweet sound. the apexi world sport exhaust is the quietest exhaust i've ever heard.

There are plenty of reasons. To draw less attention, maybe he has kids of a wife and its just loud for a DD, noise ordinances....the list goes on. I do alot of traveling, and my loud exhaust has an annoying drone when im on the highway for long periods of time.

My RSR exhaust is also very quiet. Sounds great once the rpm's get up around 4500

I bought a used borla muffler from a fellow member and the sound is perfect for me. Very VERY quiet compared to other dsm owners around me. I forgot to mention i have a 3" turboback exhaust, and I have yet to hear quieter. The "baffling" is also alot LESS present w/ this muffler. (seems to be the reaosn i kept getting pulled over) I definately would recommend borla for a good power/quietness mod.
