I'm putting the TPS sensor back on a 1g TB for a 2g. Anyways I dont know how to use this thing. I need to measure OHMS. Any Help is Appreciated.

ohms is on the right side you see that thing that looks like a horse shoe almost cant find it here so just put it on what you want to read?? and use it? other side is amps so you dont need that side ! put it on 200ohms or so depending what yo uare reading??
 
Ok, well Im trying to measure the resistance for the TPS sensor. its supposed to read .9k OHMS in the closed position and should read 5k Ohms in the WOT position.

So I guess I need to know what to set this meter to. it has these options for Ohms. 20M, 2M, 200K, 20K, 2K and 200. Which should I be using?
 
Always use the scale that is the next one higher of the resistance you are measuring. So for .9k use the 2k scale and for 5k use the 20k scale. Although for this test using the 20k scale for both is ok since you don't care about the exact value to it's highest resolution. BTW put the leads in the jacks marked COM and ohms (horseshoe).

The TPS should also be ohm tested for smooth changes (in ohms reading - use 20k scale) in proportion to the opening angle of the throttle valve. You must connect the leads to the pins that show ohms change while turning the valve (on a 1g should be pins 2 and 1 for going one direction (up/down) OR pins 2 and 4 for the other direction). Turn the valve slowly to test this maybe even stopping several places along the way (since you have a digital meter instead of a needle one, so it needs to settle down for a reading or you will just get changing digits all the while of turning). An analog (needle one) is better for this test but of course ya gotta use what you have. A bad TPS will have an open (infinite ohms) or a short (0 ohms) somewhere along the way of turning (instead of continually changing smoothly in the same direction - either up or down). Or it will be out of the specified range.

Ok, then also for the record I'll point out again that the procedure linked isn't correct for any generation DSM.

On a 1G you need to measure the output voltage of the TPS with the throttle closed.
On a 2G you need to measure the switching point of the internal IPS in the TPS.
On a 2G with a 1G TB it all depends on which TPS you use how to best solve the problem.

I got misfire on my 420a. I think its my coil pack. Instead of buying a new one I want to test it withy my multimeter/ohmmeter or whatever you call it. How would I go about doing this on my coil pack. I know one prung goes on the lead where you attach the spark plug wire but I dont know where i touch the other prung with?
