Please don't delete this!!!! I have searched your site extensively and found no info. Does anyone know how to remove just the front Subframe and how long it would take. I have a 97 gsx. quick info on what has to be removed would be great. Can I leave engine and trans, I suspect I would need to support it.

It should only take a few hours as long as you have hand tools and a couple extra hands. Have not done this on a 2g but done plenty of 1g's! Your going to have to disconnect the steering rack and all necessary bolts holding the sub frame up. Also have to disconnect the rear motor mount. You should not have to support the motor being that there are still three motor mounts holding the motor/trans up! But to be safe you can put a jack or stand under neath it for support. Specially if you have worn motor mounts! You could leave the control arms bolted to the sub frame or remove them with the sub frame! What is the reason you are removing the sub frame any way?

There are 4 nuts that hold the subframe in place as well as 2 bolts. Aside from that you have to remove the suspension, since it bolts to the subframe as well...in several places. It's probably possible to remove it without removing the tranny, but the transfer case and downpipe definitely need to be removed as well as the rear engine (trans) mount. Also disconnect the steering tie rods from the suspension knuckles. There is also an AC line bracket that needs to be removed.

Good Luck.

Thank-you both for the reply, I needed to remove it due to rust where 2 of the mounts attach it to the car. However my son totaled the car Thursday night head on collision but fortunateley all parties walked away after a hospital checkup.
