Ok, I replaced the clutch, put everything back together, wired the starter wrong, hooked it to the battery, made a large spark and starter relay started buzzing, checked the relay, its ok, checked starter solenoid, its fried, got a new one, wired it correctly, connected it to the battery, big spark again.... Whats the problem? I wired it correctly the second time with a new solenoid and it still make a big spark and tries to turn over. Here is how I wired it; ground is connected to a bolt holding the starter on, little wire is on the little thing it goes on, and power is on the bolt that does not have a wire going from the starter to solenoid. Is this correct?

recheck the relay. it may have fried internally and grounding out in side. also recheck all your wires you might mave something crossed or grounding somewhere.

battery cable to big post on the solenoid
ign wire to small terminal
ground wire to block

the starting system is a simple system which consist of
battery
ignition switch
fuses
relay
starter

good luck

Thanks, but there are two big posts on the solenoid, which one does the power go to? I just bought a new starter w/solenoid for 140$ and I dont want to kill it.

Ugh I'm in the same boat as you in terms of the money issue. I just wasted $100 on the starter relay!!! I thought it was the starter relay that was bad because I tested it and got results opposite of what the manual says, but nothing. I have a new starter in my trunk that I was putting on hold because I thought the relay was the problem but apparently it's not.

I get a loud single click when I turn it to ON. I really don't know what's going on with the car as of now. I'm going to install the starter anyways but I have a feeling it won't fix anything.
