Ok so I got hit by the sound police last night and got slaped with a 300$ ticket. So I need to quiet things up a bit. I'm currently running a 2.5 catless with a dc muffler and glasspack. What can I do to help. Maybe different muffler. Still wanna have some attitude but not so loud. Will a resonantor be better than a glass pack. And I don't won't to put a cat back on. Thanks for any replys

Can you post a video or and audio recording of the exhaust. I read that its a $5000 fine to get caught without a Catalytic converter.

Im running 3 inch right now with cat, but resonators are designed to kindof 'quiet' the exhaust a bit so id go with resonators. For instance, i have 2 resonators and its a nice deep tone and somewhat quiet...unless of course your getting on it. Either way without the cat it will still be loud, but resonators should help.

We don't have to worry about inspections or what not for the cat. No smog here. We just have such a vaque law on exhaust it gives the cops free right to profile. So I need a little more low key. So would 2 19 inch resonators fit from were thecat was to the axle?

Not sure, mine are in the piping behind the cat. Have you thought about a high-flow cat? that might quiet it down some.

I added two resonators to my 3in Megan exhaust w/ no cat to try to get rid of the highway drone but it did little to help.

Your best bet would be to go with a Magnaflow muffler.

on a stock motor im not sure how it was so loud you got pulled over unless you were up in the rpm's. i would start with the muffler tip since thats what is constricting the air flow to give it that sound we all love. i run a 4-2-1 with a down pipe to a resonator no cat then right to the muffler. mine sounds mellow when cruising but loud when i want it to be up top.

If you are talking about on a turbo DSM there is a big difference between exhaust noise from NA and turbo. The turbo tends to help reduce noise, however a larger turbo reduces less noise.

I'm aware that the NA and turbo models sound different. I was commenting on the ability of a resononator to reduce noise. I saw a minimal change in noise after adding two resonators is all I am saying.

Keep in mind your driving style. If you are always screaming around town at WOT you will always be encountering the "sound police".

On my last 420a I had a cat-back exhaust off ebay which had a silencer on the tip. It helped. Also, I know this sounds surprising but usually going to an exhaust shop is your cheapest option. Tell them your problem and they can create a custom setup to reduce noise.
