I have yet to figure out this noise. It happens in all gears, all speed limits.
Let's say though, if I'm just cruising on the highway (5th gear obviously) and if I want to slow down, by laying completely off the gas, but do not take it out of gear, the front right area (from trans right) will make a whirling-sort-a-grinding noise. If I were to apply pressure to the brakes, while staying in gear, the noise is significantly louder. Almost sounds like a bad wheel bearing... but I replaced those... and brakes shouldn't cause a wheel bearing to become louder if its bad. If I were to take it out of gear and coast, the noise doesn't occur, brakes or no brakes. If I keep a load on the drivetrain, for instance I am just keeping my foot slightly on the gas pedal, it doesn't make the noise. Sometimes when applying the brakes in gear, the noise becomes loud enough to be heard over the music I'm playing, which I play kinda loud.
Any ideas? I'm lost. The only thing I can think of is a bad axle, but it kinda doesn't make sense to me.
Thanks for any help.
