Hello all
I was going to rebuild my Daily drive / Weekend evo II engine as i'm planning to go for more power like 450whp GT35 272 cams etc etc
Well i placed order for
Wiseco pistons
Eagle rods
ACL bearings
some seals etc etc

Yesterday i removed engine diasembled it totally and took crankshaft to Measure and check for straightness
I got problem
Crank is not straight and it should be regrinded to 0.50 :(
Here is my problem and question:
Machineshop can fix crank and regrind it and it will be OK but i had Crankwalk too and crank does not look perfect where thrust bearing is located.
Anyway i was thinking about 2.4 crank (from junkyard for 150USD) 150mm rods and wiseco pistons in my 4g63 block
But some say that it wont fit and it will touch Block main caps, and pistons will touch oil squirters.
my block is 7 bolt and it looks like this:

I don't have much money to go for Eagle crank or stuff like that. I was collecting $ for rebuild too long and i only can allow myself to spend 200$ for crank.
Also 2.0 crank is not available in my city / country so i dont have much choice.
Please advice what to do Urgent as package will be sent in two days and if i need to change order i should do it now.

Please advice

Thanks in advance

Try finding 2nd gen Eclipse crank or 93-94 Eclipse n/a crank. You must have Eclipses over there. Here they are available in some Hyundais like Sonata that come with 4g63 engines, ut IDK how it's overseas. You can try 93-96 Galants too. they come with 4g63, but the SOHC version. Just dont confuse it with 1.8L engine, because they look very Identical. The n/a crank can take pretty much the same amount of power.

Good advice!!! All of those 7 bolt cranks will work.

I sold a Evo III crank in excellent condition the other day for $110US but I am all the way in Jamaica. Many persons here in Jamaica after damaging the crank due to crank walking etc...normally just change the entire lower half to a Natural Aspirated like RVR NA engine, Galants etc... which trust me many times outperform the stock Evo III lower halfs. The only disadvantage depending on how you look at it is the EvoIII comes with Oil squirters.

Btw, Canada has many older versions evos (I to III).

It is in your best interest to get rid of the oil squirters, and btw you can get cranks later evos too, almost all aftermarket. 7-bolt cranks are universal with any 7-bolt and they will have the same part number.

I have a similar take where it regards the Oil squirters yet ppl have said otherwise why i said depending on how you look at it.

Guys i'm not from USA
I'm from republic of Georgia an it is too far away from all of you.
I'm not able to find any 2.0 Crank here does not matter it is from N/A or aspecially from Turbo engine. i only found guy who was really happy that he found 0.25 regrinded ####ed crank for 400USD OMG

After that i'm not planning to look any 2.0 crank better collect 850$ and get Eagle crank :p

What about 2.4 crank? can anybody tell me something good and hopefull? or i'm in deep sh*t?

Is it worth money to go for 2.3 stocker?

Well I guess you cant find crank in Georgia huh.

Anyway, I dont know what you mean by if it is worth the money. You just drop the 2.4 crank in and everything else is the same - same bearings, same rods.... just make sure it's a 7 bolt

BUt hold on, I didnt think the 2.4L engine was available in Europe unless its imported for the US.

exactly
we have many imported US Galants and other models of mitsus here. and today i was looking for 2.4 crank from 2.4 engine and i found couple for 200$ each but there are no 2.0 engines :(
they all were 7 bolt as mine. but i wanna know if dropping 2.4 crank in my block without grinding anything will hurt or broke anything

George

only the 6 bolts have that problem where they have to grind off some so the rods can clear, but thats because 6 bolt rods are more massive /big rods/.

I'm going to use Eagle rods, Wiseco pistons, ACL race bearings
As i know Eagles are massive than 7 bolt rods. no?

what about oil squirters? should i remove them? or they can stay where they are. ?

Eagles are def. stronger, but they clear.

Some people blame the Oil squirters for getting a crankwalk, so they remove them or get a block off a N/A car that doest have them. It's your choise .

I'm sure you have evo's down in your area...hop on evom and Find someone parting their car out...

I got evo forged rods for my 7 bolt..works like a charm...you should be able to find a crank for like 100-150
