The mods on the car are --ported 14b, Ingen Intake, greddy RS blow off vale(recircleated) 560 Evo IX injectors, walbro 225, Tanabe 3 inch downpipe and exhaust, dejon tool upper icp.

You say you're using a MBC, but you haven't listed the wastegate your using.

In any case, I don't know a whole lot about GST's and their turbo systen, but try the following:

1. Make sure the Air Cleaner/Filter is not clogged/blocked for any reason.
2. Double-check your vacuum/breather/PCV connections.
3. Tell me you're not using the stock boost gauge? ;)
4. Run a very detailed/thorough boost-leak test. (soapy water) (test charge +5psi to what you want to run)
5. Verify that your wastegate is actuating properly.
6. Run out and get a packet logger to see what's really goin on.

I hope this helps. It seems to be the 'do-me-1st' of every turbo thread.
Chris

he said hes got a 14b, i highly doubt he bought a used 14b removed the wg actuator welded the flapper shut, drilled the manifold for a tial 38mm and called it a day

like boostnhard said check the boost controller, if its backwards it will not boost correctly

^^^^ For #6 above, it's a pocket logger. Not a packet logger. Just wanted to let you know so you didn't do a search and get confused because nothing shows up.

My bet would be on that Greddy Type RS BOV you got there. I used to have that BOV and what ended up happening was the diaphram was stuck open and anytime you would boost, the boost would just leak through the BOV and back down the intake track (via you recirculation tube). I couldn't even do a boost leak check becasue any time you would try pressurize the system the air would just leak right through the BOV. That is what the "whisteling" you are hearing. I had two RS's do this to me and IMO they are crap. I got a HKS SSQV (Recirculated) and LOVE it.

When you get a chance do a boost leak check (if you can) but, my bet would be that you can't even build pressure because your BOV's diaphram isn't sealing shut.

I agree with kmoore on the BOV being the culprit. I would do a boost leak test as a first step to getting this under control, ohh and check the turbo for shaft play before you do the test. Hope you get it under control, Keith.

Yeah... I wouldn't recommend the RS to anyone. Just for the simple fact that I have had to die on me for the exact same problem

Thanx guys I will check the blow off valve when I get back to the shop. Ps that will sux cause all this stuff is all new minus turbo. BUt everthing eles is new. I will be pissed if the blow off valve is defective. So side note the kid helping me says he was turning the boost controller counter clockwise to raise the boost, Um arent you suppose to tighten it so that would be turning it clockwise.

The fact you said kid would do it for me. You have it at a shop so a professional can take care of it for you, but a kid is helping. Try the BOV, I have heard from other sources and mechanics that the Greddy type RS BOV is a paperweight.

do have a problem with kids????? hmmm iam a kid well older than a kid yet i have had 2 1st gens and neither one have ever entered a mechanics shop other than mine..

so saying that a kid is the problem is completely off topic....i take offense to that kind of stuff..

p.s anmgst i hope you get the car fixed and figure the bov out man..

good luck.

I know how you feel. Same thing happened to me. I would say about a week of use and the thing just crapped out. See if you can return it and get a HKS SSQV.

If I return it which I am I need to stay with Greddy I have dejon tool hard pipe with the greddy flang, so I will change the type R.

Sorry to burst your bubble but I don't think that is going to happen. For the simple fact that you can't even close your hood without some modification with that BOV. It can be done but not with Dejon pipes.

Just curious but did you buy this BOV from DEJON?

I bought the bov from vivid racing in january and never installed to till yesterday car has been in the shop beeing panited and swapping the turbo. An it donsent hit the hood.

We can tell you're a kid by the way you mis spell everything. If you are going to state a valid point you need to spell things correctly and use propper grammar like the "Before you Reply" says up top. Just an FYI

And yes kids do crappy work; I had a "kid" do the work to my GS-T and it was horrible.
Taking it to a shop if you dont know how to do your own work is your best bet. The HKS SSQV has been a very nice BOV for me. I highly recommend getting that one instead.

Hey, hey, hey now. I'm 16 and I think I do some pretty good work if I do say so myself. I guess it all depends on what "kid" you get. But yes, like I said earlier, the HKS SSQV has been a great BOV. Just remember to buy the recirculation fitting.

Ok guys thanx, car is fixed THE KID, helping me is 26 years old and been working on cars but still did not do anything right. After I left work an went to the shop I double checked everthing, 1 The blow off valve was not tight ot the flang MAD loose... 2, The adjustment screw which I was told was all the way in was all the way out, UM he dosent know which way is up an down??? 3, the boost controller was infact turned the wrong way. So after I adjusted everything the car ran fine 17psi all the way to red line and no howling noise thank god it's fixed. But on the test drive( this is the first time the has really been driving in months, the front end squeaks like SOB all the rubber bushings sound dry rotted. GOD more work my anniversary is on Sunday and I still have to replace the top and do the stereo and alarm. But Thanx to all the helped me out.. Apperciated.

All is fixed with the car I have been driving it the past couple days(not yesterday fn snow) But drive her this morning 18 psi and all is great no leaking issue. My wife loves her gift. So all thats left is pictures for all that helped and requested them( I will take them tommorow wealther permitting, and installing the Bullseye side mount intercooler and XTD Stage3 clutch. Side mount will be tommorow and clutch should be next weekend. Will post pictures tommorow. Again thanx for the help guys.
