HELP! Brakes!

I need an answer quickly. I just took off the rubber brake line between the harline and the caliper. But I noticed as I was removing it that the hard line kept twisting, and suddenly the threaded male (at the end of the hard line which connects to the threaded female on the rubber hose) started twisting and now freely spins. Is this normal? Im petrified that I destroyed my hard line. Thanks All

Take rubber line of hard line and look to see if it is kinked, stripped or bent. Just did two brake jobs on my talon and camry and was a problem on the toyota. I ended up replacing hard brake line with one from boneyard. May be to late but use good penatrent like pb blaster and let it soak then use quality line wrench and sockets to loosen hoses. Double check anything that was twisting or broke lose that you may have messed up. Look for kinks and leaks if you get the job done keep checking it for a few days to weeks. I borrowed shitty wrenches from friend and easy job went fubar real quick. Good luck.

^When you did the brakes on your talon, did the threaded male connector on the hard line spin freely for you? I did spray it with pb blaster, but what Im worried about is whether the twisting of the hard line messed it up. Could I have possibly collapsed the channel inside?

The dealership is about your only hope......but......you could by a nut and flare tool at a parts store and repair it. This would probably be the cheapest route.

The male fitting on the hard line is usually free to spin once it's not clamping the flared tubing down to the female fitting. As long as the metal line isn't kinked or twisted your ok.

Ok, I noticed mine freely spun, I thought I fractured the connection. Now, I did not kink the hard line, but it did twist somewhat when taking the rubber hose off, however, I twisted it back to its original position, have I potentially destroyed the line?

You will have to decide if you think you weakened the metal. It can stand a bit of bending since they are formed that way.
