This is sorta complex... I just hit 120k miles so i did a full tune-up. I changed out my timing belt, water pump, thermostat, all my drive belts, plugs and wires. I got everything back together and it has horribly irregular idle now, and occasionally stalls out. It's sounds like it's missing sometimes too. I went back and regapped my spark plugs and that helped some. I gapped them to the original .28-.31 gap as recommended according to the manufacturer. It would barely stay on at that point. I examined my old plugs and they were gapped at .41. So I set my new plugs to the .41 but it didn't fix the problem entirely.
I also noticed some weird things when i did the job too. The crankshaft it missing it's timing mark for TDC so i just made sure to set it up just like it was. I checked the cylinder when the plugs were our and everything appeared to be in order. Now i am getting some squeel from 1 of my drivebelts. I think that i might have it a little tight. Any ideas what i can do to fix the problems?
I was also thinking since the car appears that at one point it was heavily modded i might be up against a diff compression ratio inside the block. thus the difference in gapping the plugs. Let me know if you guys have any light you can shed on my situation.
Sincerely thankful.
