So, 91 Eclipse GSX. The car will start and run fine. But as soon as you click the key on, all running and dash lights will flash.(not the head lights tho) Shut the car off and take the key out, and the running lights continue to flash for about 30 seconds or so then shut off completely.
Now, with the car running, I noticed if I turn the headlights on, the running lights quit flashing and just stay on. But then when I turn the lights off, the continue to flash.

I checked the battery ground and engine to chassis ground, less than .1 ohm.

Anyone have any ideas?

Could it be a bad flasher? Do you have factory alarm? Try locking and unlocking your driver door a few times. You might have somthing wrong with the little plastic piece for the Alarm. It's attached to the back of the key tumbler.

I know nothing about a factory alarm, if so equipped. I just now tried the key in the door thing many ways. And nothing.

This all started one day with a dead battery. I had left the key on. Battery was too low to start the car, but still turned the dash light on and such. I believe the lights started blinking started right then and there. I then charged the battery disconnected from the car. Reinstalled the battery,,, lights been blinking ever since.

By the way, the car will still start and run fine. Lights just blink.

Anything else guys?

Try and lock and unlock using the key in Both doors. You might have to chase down a good switch. If it is the alarm. Also you might have to double lock/unlock for I to work and shut off. Like lock it twice before you unlock. Mine used to act funny till I fixed it.

Tried the door locks again. Nothing.
The car still starts and runs fine. So I don't think its a factory alarm problem, if this car even has one.

When "checking the relay", what does one do?
It works. I don't know what else to check.

Not yet. Worked late yesterday. Didnt touch it. But imma check both things tonight.
I didnt even think it had an alarm, especially since it will still start and drive fine. I figured its a 91, no abs, no airbags, why would it have an alarm. Haha!

But thank you to everyone whos posted to help me figure this out! =)

Alarm systems won't disable the car from driving. Turning a car on thst has an alarm turns the alarm off. Hope you get it figured out cause I'd imagine thst it makes.you feel kinda stupid or something cause it would me

Got to tinkering tonight. I first looked under the dash at the driverside fuse panel. I noticed there was no relay in place, and the factory grease intact, so I assume no factory alarm, but there is a fuse.....
So I pull it anyways. Start the car, RUNNING LIGHTS STILL FLASH. Errrrrr..

But not all hope is lost.... yet.
I pull the "tail light" relay under the hood. (passenger side fender)
Start the car..... YEAAAYYY, THE LIGHTS DIDN'T FLASH!!!! But they also won't work at all now... Boooo. Still got headlights tho..
So I swap the headlight relay to the tail light relay spot. Start the car, NOOOOOO, THE RUNNING LIGHTS FLASH and MY HEAD LIGHTS DON'T WORK.

So SOMETHING is making my lights flash.
Guess I have to add in now that this car is all original, never been hacked or modded electrically for anything.
I feel like this is a signal from the car.. Like if xyz goes bad/malfunctions the running lights flash to warn/tell you. Or something.

So yeah, I'm completely stumped. If no one else has any ideas for me, I guess I'm going to throw a new computer at it.

So please, someone must know something. Ask all your friends, family, enemies, strangers.
Where's the super hero dsm god guru when you need him.. LOL. =]

I'm an airplane mechanic by trade. Diagrams don't solve problems. If something was grounded out or crossed, yes a diagram can help guide you, but something is switching the lights on and off.
This shit is crazy.

Holy shit I found the problem!!
There's these 3 diamonds on the front of the grill. Guaranteed that is it.
First and last Mitsubishi I will own. Thanks for all the help everyone. It is appreciated.

Did you check the flasher? And what's so bad about Mitsubishi? every car on the planet will most likely have a electrical issues at some Point. Havnt had any in either of mine yet! Both my jeeps and Vw thou!

Few things , make sure your battery cables are tight and don't move AT all not even a hair.

Get a few relays from a wrecker car and swap it in or steal a good relay from your fans or something LOL

There's an alarm relay located above the interior fuse box by the clutch pedal
It's on top off the fuses there tiny relays,
the interior fuse box acually shows you.

You can also remove the factory alarm/lock system it's located on the passenger side , if your sitting in the passenger seat it's located right beside your right foot.
It's a kick Panal with a little computer inside of it ,it's below the glove box and just past the speaker on the door.
Give it a shot never know! But there's a fuse also

There's a wire i used when i installed my commmand start that i used to trigger my running lights ,interior, tail lights ect. So that it flased if the alarm goes off ,something is possibly supplying voltage to that wire like an alarm or command start if equipped.

Take a close look under the radio and dash

Edit:
when my battery cables had a bad connection to my battery all sorts of wierd things happend ,rough up the terminals for a good solid connection

In very deep detail. I turned the key on(but didnt start it) to push it out my garage into the driveway so i could do some sweeping. A long while later, it was gonna rain, so i went back into the car to put up the window, noticed i left the key on, tried the window, it closed, but slower than normal. I then went to see if it would start, I clicked the key to start, all the lights and such died and the motor would not turn over. As soon as I released the key, from start position to on position, the lights started to do the "flashy thing" as I now call it. I didn't really think twice about it. Figured it was something the ecu did if the voltage was too low. So I pushed my car back into the garage. Didnt even jump start it. Took the battery out and charged it slowly, its a new Duracell I bought in February.
So after it was all charged up I put it back in, went to start it up, click the key on, flashy thing. Start the car, runs great, drives great, but flashy thing. Pull alarm fuse, flashy thing.
My car has a flashy thing problem.
It's weird.
And too systematic to be a typical shorted wire. Its like a steady on off blinking like your hazards. 30 seconds or so of flashing, then nothing for about 10 seconds, then they flash again and the cycle repeats.
It's a sign.

I'm going to go over all the battery connections and grounds this wweekend.
Thanks again for the help!
