Help! all of a sudden tonight my exhuast pops like crazy

ok driving home in the rain tonight i noticed audible pops when idling or cruising around at the same speed, not when accelerting though. I have always heard these when i let of the gas if im moving pretty quickly but never like this. Heres the thing, when cruising at a speed of 39 or 40 when i pops i immediatly feel the car jerk just a tad, the car is pretty stock, 12 psi of boost but i wasnt boosting, 2.5 inch exhuast no cat. Could it be my turbo? a bad exhaust valve, maybe its running rich or lean but at stock boost not even boosting i dont no. The only thing is a fellow dsmer recently closed the gap on my plugs he said it was to much at .32 and went to .22 or somthing. The car makes 170,170,150,160 compression as of 2 days ago, and the engine sounds fine no audible knocking or ticking, any ideas? could it be the rain? the plugs? the turbo I dont know, any one have an idea? thanks, or maybe bad gas?

No fuel management on the 16g ? Stock Fuel pump ?

yes sir but no boost tonight , do u think its lean just idleimg why would that come on so suddenly

Do you smell gas ? You could be smelling raw fuel through the exhuast if it is running to rich . You need some type of air/fuel management . I would also recommend to re-wire your fuel pump or go with a 195 or 255 on a 16g and a set of rx7 red top injectors ( 460s ) over the stock blue tops . the backfiring and popping out your exhaust is from not being tuned .

Sounds like a really bad backfire. You must be running uber rich.

if i was running uber rich would the small back fires ### the car to jerk a bit, its like engine studders a bit, i would think it would ### reverse oressure against the exhuast valves?

Pull your plugs , you can tell if your motor is being ran to lean . If it was backfiring i would say your burning raw fuel through the exhaust and running rich . I'd get and s-afc and and air / fuel ratio gauge . Your car needs some type of fuel management on the 16g .
