help. my car dies all of a sudden..

( 1997 2.0 5 speed )... hey everyone as the title states my car dies out of no where and turns back on suddenly... for exampe im driving normal speed 40-45 or 60-70 freeway then my car dies? the radio is still on and everything except when i give it gas nothing happens? i do have a cel code p0455 but they said it was my gas cap and bought a new one yesterday.. any ideas? i tried to search but no one posted a solution for this.. thanks

4g63 or 420a?
On my old 98 gs i found they ran some wires awful close to the EGR pipe. This obviously wont apply to you if you are 4g63. A main wire melted, made contact with egr and shorted to ground. Died on the freeway a few times and would blow a large fusible link(20 or 40A iirc). I found it and got it ziptied temp just to get where i was going and stole another fuse from a dif slot to get to the nearest auto parts store.

this just happend to my 94 4g63 last night at the track shifted out of 2nd and car died out couldnt get it to start again (within 10 mins) - ended up towing it home

420a sorry....btw if that is your car on the pic its super sweet!! mine looks almost exactly the same

Sounds like a ground short like boost97gst saying my gfs car did this a few times and wouldn't start for an hr or so at times it was a batt cable though wore through insoultion diff car ad well but theory and problem sounds the same. Good luck

Start at the batt and got from their ck every where look for it laying against somthing
