Hello, I'm looking at a 92 eagle talon tomorrow.

Hello, I'm going to look at a 1992 eagle talon tomorrow. I'm wondering what sort of things I should look for that would be bad? I'm not familiar with these cars. I know a pretty good amount about engines but are there any specific common problems I should search for? Also is the 92 a 6 bolt crank?

I'll also do some searching. Any advice would be much appreciated.

check for the basics. burning oil, pushing coolent, fluid leaks, check to see how the timing belt looks. drive it for sure! see how it goes through the gears.. and yes the early 92's were 6bolts

Compression test is quick and easy, I'd at least do that unless the car looks excellent and well cared for. 15 dollar guage or a expensive lemon

you can tell if it has a 6 bolt by looking at or feeling the oil pan...on the passenger side of the pan you should feel what seems like a dent if its a 6 bolt...7 bolt actually pops outwards in the same location...someone correct me if I am wrong but im sure thats right
also just make sure there arent any hanging wires or missing components from the engine bay...if it looks like someone hacked it up personally i would stay away from it

I thought the dent was on the drivers side at least thats where the dent is on mine.
