Hey guys im new to the DSM world just bought my first its a 93 Talon N/A it has 112,000 miles on it and is bone stock.....the car has been sitting for awhile like 5-7 months well it misses at idle and it wont rev past 3k i replaced the plugs, wires, coilpack and still missing. It has a small leak from the flex pipe but i cant figure it out ... any help would be GREAT

What did you replace the plugs *with*? If the answer is anything Bosch, there's your problem. Our cars don't dislike, they actively HATE Bosch plugs. Get a set of stock NGK/Denso plugs.

If you went with NGK/Densos, have you run a compression test? What were the numbers? If you just bought it, you don't know what kind of shape the engine is in.. and it's unlikely to be too great.

Less likely to be the injectors, but give them a listen too (they should be clicking regularly... if they're not, say so and we can go from there, as there's a LOT of things it could be).

If i Easy the gas pedal down REALLY slow it will go all the way to redline but if i step on it it just bogs ...

And you haven't answered any of my questions, 1gdsmnt. A lot of things could cause your problem. We need more specifics to narrow down the reason it's doing that, not just random symptoms and behaviours.

The plugs are Autolites... and no i havent ran a compression test. The car was my brothers...it ran fine until he parked it. he never beat on the car, and always did routine maitnace.. i think i can hear clicking from the injectors, not sure because of the leak in the flex pipe..I also thought i could hear a vacume leak but im not positive.. i checked all the vacume lines.... i Replaced the fuel filter today and it didnt improve.. i pulled the plugs to check the gapping and they are really white..? too lean? cant be bad gas ### he drained the gas (for the lawn mower) over the summer... i put 10 bucks of 93 in it and some drygas.. ohh and im not throwing any codes... so it cant be a sensor right? but im confused dont know what else to do.. ..

buddy of mine had an issue like that in an unrelated car (oldsmobile actually) and it turned out to be 4 of the 6 of his fuel injectors had fried... if you took it easy, the car would move, but if you stabbed the throttle, it would bog and die.

get yourself a good service manual for the car, it'll have specs for injector impedance.

just a thought, maybe it's of some help to ya.

Again, pull out those plugs first and drop in a set of NGKs or Densos. Our cars dislike 'bargain' plugs, and the ones you should be using cost a whopping $12 for a set of four. Test the plug wires with an ohmmeter, make sure they're actually good. Then test the resistances on the coilpack to make sure the one you replaced it with doesn't have a blown-open coil or something.
