Heat Soak

i was just wondering how to stop heat soak i mean i upgraded my sidemount its twice as thick as stock and just all around bigger yet i still manage to get heat soak I'm only running 16lbs and another thing i need to help is boost creep i have ported manifold and turbo what next to help my creep thanks

For a while I ran a Alamo side mount and even with that I still heat soaked it. The best way to go is a front mount, but what helped me a lot was i used water injection with a injector before the intercooler. It brought knock down about 9 counts and the intercooler lasted longer before heatsoaking. It still heat soaked it just had taken it a little longer to do it.

As for the boost creep i also had the same problem. I ported out the wastegate hole and installed a 34mm flapper. That fixed the problem quite well.

How do you know if your heat soaking?

When your doing a pull starting from first gear your car will start to knock in 3rd and 4th because the intercooler gets hot/heat soaks and cant cool the air efficently any more. When you get out of your car and touch the intercooler it will be warm. Thats when you know you heat soaked the intercooler.

But that could be ddue to high boost or bad fuel trims

Running higher boost levels will make the intercooler heat soak faster due to the higher air temperatures coming out of the turbo which will cause knock, but Fuel trims have nothing to due with your intercooler heat soaking or knocking. The car doesn't go off of the fuel trims when the car is at WOT.
