I recently did a little work on my car spicing things up. I've done the valve cover, heat shield, coolant reservoir, headliner, and door panels.

Let me know what you guys think, Thanks for taking the time to check my post out, and hopefully you stay tuned to critique the rest of my stuff. I have a lot to do. This car is going to be a Batman Themed car so it should be fun.

Barman theme huh that would explain the yellow have you thought about exterior paint cost looks good so far

How hard is it to remove that piece from the door panel? I am in need of redoing mine as well. Mine has the same fabric as yours and it looks like a character from fraggle rock threw up on it LOL.

Awesome glad to see a few comments. Here's a few answers to some questions. The paint cost is a bit expensive pearl black with a gold flake, but the putting it on is no big deal. As for the coolant level the other side which I should of posted but looks tacky is not painted in about an inch or so square so I can peak on the level, but not really a big deal either way. As for taking the door insert out.. it sucked a bit old plastic is fragile. If you do take yours out go slow even when removing the screws and make sure you get all the screws to your insert. There is even one under the dip where you grab to close door usually. Just take your time and it'll be easy. The fabric parts a PIA seriously the headliner was easier. Ug glad its over LOL. Thanks for the comments all.

You might want to try those door panels again, and stay on the line while cutting! Some of the corners..aren't round, that's all. ;)

What kind of material is that?

Also, your letters on your VC need to be polished up, it looks like there's large swirl marks or scratches in them. A wooden block and sandpaper would probably do magic.

Either way, I'm in to see the finished product. Keep up the hard work.

Thanks foor the tips. Was the first time with door panel inserts. It came out better than I thought though. I never did anything with the letters on vc that's the original machine finish. All I did was use masking tape on the entire vc letters yes even the period LOL it was a PIA. Maybe I could buff it up with a block and sandpaper like you said. Hmmm.. as for the material its like table cloth almost..temp fix till I get better material but I like it.

P.S Just to make it clear VC will not be remaining white for long LOL too easy to get dirty.

I actually just took my headliner off like 10 minutes ago. I came in to check prices for different fabrics. i was considering white tolex (like what they use to cover guitar amps and stuff), but seeing that nice crisp black. Whoa baby that's what I need. Any specific tips?

I got the headliner fabric at walmart surprisingly its knock off silk its very nice. When putting the fabric down becareful not to wrinkle or stretch the fabric. Start from on side and work your way out. This will reduce wrinkles. Make sure.you have enough fabric too not to muxh overlay around the whole thing because if there's too much it will be too heavy on edges and cause wrinkles. Also I would suggest using Loctite Adhesive.

Just a thought, what if you used something like 3M fabric glue and wrapped the original inserts?

Yeah, good luck keeping the white VC clean! I didn't think of that.

I tried the 3m its ok it just doesn't stick as good.

I'm thinking of doing the Valve Cover in a yellow with a metal flake to it. I've got a few coats of the high heat white on there atm but I'm thinking I'm going to do a couple more coats before I actually put expensive paint on it. I wont be doing that till I yank the motor out in a few weeks anyway. because I want to paint the whole engine bay black and base of the motor black first before I start the theme under the hood. Then once the engine and it's components are done I'm painting the entire car Black Pearl With a Gold Flake. it's going to be awesome. I haven't decided yet if I want my local upholstery shop to do my seats in the car yet or just get seat covers batman theme of course... old school LOL. I'll probably bite my wallet and just have them done. I hate seat covers...

I use super 77 adhesive. Ive wrapped a lot of stuff and the super 77 works the best. A little expensive, but itll save you time in the future.

headliner looks great, door panels could be better but nice effort. Hard to tell how well the color combo works until it's all finished. Should look good though, at least it's not plaid.

Thanks, I can't wait to get more done to it. I'm excited for this weekend. I'll post more pics once I do more.
