Headlights

Someone told me that a talon tsi headlight housing is different than a standard talon headlight housing on a 95 2g, is there any truth to this? I assume that there is only 1 headlight housing for all 2g models 95 & 96.

There are 2 different styles of headlight housings for 2g DSMs.

All 95-96 Eclipses and all Talons ("2ga style")
All 97-99 Eclipses ("2gb style")

So if you need a headlight for a 95 (Eclipse or Talon) you can use any Talon headlight or any 95-96 Eclipse headlight.

That's true, there is only one type of headlight for 96-96 models and then it changes for 97-99 models

I forget to mention that the 2g talon headlights don't change from any year.

Just clarifying:
It only changes in 97-99 for Eclipses. ALL Talons from 95-98 use the same style (which is the same as the 95-96 Eclipses).

I purchased a set from ebay and my stock headlights have a plug for each light and the one i got from ebay has 1 plug for both lights. I contacted them to ask them what's going on and they told me they were not for the tsi model. Housing looks as though it will fit in car but like i said they only have 1 plug coming out for both bright and dim, I took at quick look at the car and i see a plug for the brights and a plug for the dims. I did a quick look up on stock bulb replacement and noticed all model of talons use 9005 and 9006 so i dont see why any of the models would be different.

Are you looking at the headlights uninstalled or installed on the car? Also there is a video for setting it up for what you might be looking for on that same link. Those do fit the talon and 95-96 eclipses but they are an aftermarket version, ie they are projector headlights with halos so they require a little more work to get them to work along with rewiring them.

I haven't taken my stock ones out yet. I know you have to rewire the halo ring, that's no problem. That video just covers wiring the halo ring, which is common sense. The description says nothing about rewiring brights and dims. I think the rep that e-mailed me back doesn't know what they are talking about. I guess i'll just remove my lights and see if i can make them work.

The stock headlights have one plug at the bottom (you can't see it unless you remove the bumper) that feeds the high and low and each bulb has it's own plug. The aftermarket headlights should have a single plug at the bottom too.

lookin at the video on the link, they do. It even shows how he's wiring it though I do not know if there are any verbal instructions because I can't have the volume on during work hours.

I had this problem on my first DSM a 98 GS, The headlights I ordered came with 2 plugs and there was only 1 plug coming from the lights. so.. I got angry took a saw-all and cut the headlights in half to get the wiring harness from inside the housing. I know NOW that I was able to access the other plug from the bottom.

live and learn I guess. BTW that was 7 years ago.
