Headgasket? Sorry for this noobie question.

Ok here's the scoop. I was going to pick up my other car so I could go see my girlfriend 3 hours away, and while while on the interstate casually cruising at around 80ish I start seeing white smoke in my rearview mirror. So I pull of at the next exit and stop at the local gas station. At this time temps were about 220 at the t-stat housing, and it is showing this on both of my gauges. Well long story short, I pop off the radiator cap, and it's bone dry. The coolant overflow is FULL like boiling over. And when I put water in the system it steams from under the motor...near the head....

Now i'm not to dense when it comes to cars, but this is strange because the oil is perfect from my recent oil change, no water/coolant in it what so ever. But the car is parked cooling of right now, i'll update soon though.

White usually means coolant. I would pull the plugs and see if any have the signs of coolant in the cylinder. Compression test it.

UPDATE...Poured coolant in the system so I could start diagnosing. Well it pours, I mean gushes from a hose that has a shroud around it, right next to the battery. (heater core hose?)

And yes, white means coolant that's why I knew to pull over. At least it's not the headgasket, which is fairly new! I can't fix it now because it is to hot, and I'm getting ready to hit the road to see my girl...I'll update tomorrow as soon as I can start pulling stuff to get to this hose.

Thanks guys.

any water pump leaks?

Nope new pump, it's coming from a hose near the battery, closer to the EGR valve...It looks like it goes to the heater core. The wrapping on it has a yellow stripe if that means anything.

ya sorry just got up the easiest way to find a leak is to put pressure into the system and see where it leaks out any local shop should be able to do this it saves alot of time.
The leak has been found, it's the hose stated above. I'm guessing it runs to the heater core, but I can't be certain until it cools down, and I can get to it tomorrow when I come back into town.

if it goes to the firewall than yes its the heater core there is no other coolant hoses that go the the firewall just the two for the heater core.

Yep. I,m fairly certain that's where it goes, but it is wrapped in the stock shrouding. Oh well I have to hit the road, thanks for the response, i'll update tomorrow.
