i've done a sreach but i can't really get what 6 bolt and 7 bolt really means. can someone explain what 6 bolt and 7 bolt is please. sorry to post the noob question but maybe there other people on this forum that also don't know what it means.

They are the 2 different types of engines in our cars. The 6 or the 7 refers to the number of bolts that attached the flywheel to the crank.

alrite i've seen most first gen say they have 6 bolt and then i would figure that 2gen have 7 bolts is this right?

I've heard that the 7 bolt is more reliable... yet at the same time you might get crankwalk... whereas the 6 bolt you won't.
6 bolt apparently is a stronger motor, which is why you see people dumping 1st gen motors into 2nd gen cars.
This is all what i've heard/read.... So don't take my word for it :p

pre production date of around may 92 = 6 bolt

post 6/92 = 7 bolt

so... most 1g's are 6 bolt but some are 7 bolt, and all 2g's are 7 bolt.

search is your friend though.. all this has been discussed countless times.
