i have searched, and found good pointers, but a question or 2, along with some what ifs...

Ok, I am installing a DC Sport header soon, and my questions are:

I feel like as soon as i look at the manifold studs, they are going to break. are they pretty sturdy? obviously i am going to PB blast them for the couple days before the install.

If i do break a stud, what will it take to replace it?

can i use a air wrench on it? or will that increase the risk of breaking the stud?

any other pointers?

Pointer 1, go attack the studs with a ratchet and then determine the actual situation. There is no point in posting here worried about it, because no matter what they have to be done. There is a million different ways that you could run into a problem, stripping the bolt, breaking the stud, stripping out the stud hole, the bolt doesn't come lose but the whole stud comes out. Etc.

Each has a different way to fix it, each is simple enough. Go take them off and depending on what happens, if anything, post here for pointers on that.

As a rule of thumb, you should be prepared with new stainless steel studs and nuts.

done. turned with little effort. excited now! the flange where the manifold meets the downpipe is broken/stripped so i might as well replace it right? i got a DC Sport header for $75... are they decent? its used, but barely.

That should eliminate the part you are referring to that is broken. Either that or I have no idea what you mean, post a picture.

Penatrating oil works great but also..Heat works even better if you let the car warm up a litle bit the bolts should not break..I recently pulled my turbo off this winter and broke bolts..next time i will heat the car up before attempting..Cold bolts are more prone to breaking than warm bolts..

yeah, it would. its just where the manifold meets the downpipe. for reference, where the break is, theres a bad exhaust leak blowing carbons all over my passenger side cooling fan. just as a reference.

How bad would it be if connecting the downpipe to the cat got delayed for some reason? Other than being an annoyance?

install went very well today! i was very surprised in the ease of the process. now to get it welded to the cat ASAP! i drove it header dumped, it is annoying as hell.
