I have a 97 gst spyder with the stock 7 bolt. A while back that head gasket went and she ran real hot trying to get her back home. Changed head gasket but now theres a oil leak on the timing belt side. Seems to be coming from between the head and block. So I went to my local u pull it junkyard and could not find a 2g. I seen a couple of 1g n/t. Being that I have a holset hx35 ready to be put on will I benift from the bigger ports of the 1g or should I stick with another 2g head or try to get the one I got fixed?

This goes back to the 1g is better than the 2g head. If you plan on doing a 1g swap, either port your intake to match or get a 1g mani. It's been proven by top racer's that the 2g head is ultimately the way to go.... Get ahold of Kiggly.... However, yes the 1g head flows a lot more, but with the design of the runners it's less efficient.

since the oil feed to the head is on the exhaust side at the back cylinder
I would doubt your leaking oil from the HG at the front of the head/block area.

check your cam seals and your front crank seal the oil can travel and have it appere as a leak at one place when it is from another.

when you replaced the HG after over heating, did you check the head for warp? or have the head surfaced?

It has to be from the head/block area. When I wipe the oil from the water pump clean and take a drive. While under no boost driving it dosent seem to leak but when a start boosting and check the water pump has oil on it. The cam seals leak a little bit but I dont think its enough to travel down to water pump that fast. Another thing the car dosent leak no oil on the ground whatsoever.

I still doubt its from the head/block unless the head will milled incorrectly and when under boost you lift the head and blow the oil out of the return ports.

hot oil will roll fast... start easy and just change the cam seals......
