Last Febuary I had run my car till i blew the head gasket, which on my side wasn't a good idea, well now i am paying for it and it is hitting my pocket hard, that is why i am asking for help. i own an 92 Eclipse 1.8l, and at first because of the over heating i thought it was the thermostat sticking so i took it out and replaced it when the problem persisted i didn't know what to think. Than one evening everthing went to hell for me and my engine just stopped running because it got to hot. i determied it wasn't the thermostat because the readiotor was dead cold but the engine was hotter than hell. the temp gauge was reading fine. well after long determination i figured it was the head gasket so i replaced it along with the t-stat. now it doesn't over heat but is smoke like a banchie. the smoke still smells like Coolent, and yet it doesn't seem to be leaking any where. the engine heats up just fine and so does the raditor. so i was wondering if someone would have any suggestions; hopefully it isn't a cracked head or block, i also replaced the intake gasket and intake assemply gasket. well i hope someone can help me because god knows i cant afford gas prices with my truck much longer. Thanks in advanced for any help. :dsm:

I feel your pain man, I blew two head gaskets in 4 months(me being dumb, :toobad: but thats another story).

I would start with a leak down test, and a compression test. I'm going to assume you know what those are and how to do them, but if you don't just ask and I'll explain the best I can. If that doesn't bring up any suspects, and you're feeling like tearing into the car, you can always pull the head off and get it pressure tested and checked for warping. If you heated it up till it died, theres a chance it may have warped. Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, perhaps later I'll come up with more things you can do to try and figure it out. I hope that helps.

i was affraid that was going to be the problem with the head, and i will have to do the compression test. it sucks about the warpage that means another head gasket. i already went through two during this rebuild (because of my dumbass room mate dropped the head on the gasket slanted.)
