I have a 91 tsi awd and my ex wife was driving it threw a belt and it got hot. Did a compression test and it reads 160,160,0,160. Before I totally tear this thing apart what more in depth tests can I run? I have heard of the transmission fluid in the cylinder test but I have found that not to be 100 percent. My brother and I tried it on his civic and the compression shot back up but itstill ended up being 2 valves not seating. I APPRECIATE ANY INPUT YOU GUYS CAN GIVE ME.

oh my gosh, she's an ex wife AND she messed up the beloved dsm huh? man, i feel your pain. LOL. wonder what she did to throw the belt. over rev? possibly shifted from 5th to 3rd or something? possibly revved so high that ya had some valve float and bent the valve is what i'm thinkin. just adding my 2 cents to the bent valve post above but maybe adding a reason as to why it could've happened. getting it hot doesn't bend a valve causing a 0 compression. blowing a head gasket could cause the low reading as well but i don't think it'd be 0. you'd probably be getting an oil/water mix if it were the head gasket.

Yea that is one of the reasons she is my ex wife. I thought bent valves were caused from timing belt problems? She threw the water pump belt. I may not be thinking clearly on this it has been a long week already.

it can also be caused by valve float. if the motor is revved to high, the springs may not be hard enough to close the valves in time. one reason why guys go with aftermarket springs when they get aftermarket cams or when revving to high rpms. imagine her driving at 45 mph in 2nd and when going to 3rd, hitting it in 1st instead. it'll rev fast enough to throw the belt off which would cause the overheating, and cause valve float as well which would cause the 0 compression.

That totaly registerd in my mind this time. I love it how every one is so kick ass on helping out. Now as soon as haufist has some spare time we'll pull the engine out and make it a fire breather agian. If your ever up in the Tennessee neck of the woods v8s_are_slow and if my car is back on the road we will have to go honda hunting, screw that we'll go Viper hunting. Thanks

LOL, sure thing. maybe i'll have my stroker built by then and i'll be more than ready. glad i could help (not to leave out the others). hope ya get it fixed. later!
