head gasket knowledge

i was wondering if anybody has had trouble with the head bolts stripping or such trying to take them out. i'm getting ready to do the head gasket on my 1g and wa wondering if that has been a problem, and was wondering if it is how you would get them out. just wondering . let me know

get rid of them anyway and pick up some arp head studs.

i already did get arp head studs, i was wondering if the bolts had a tendicy of stripping when trying to pull the head off?

depends on how careful you are pulling them off...

More of a threat of damage to the bolt heads with the wrong tool than damage to the block. Steel and cast iron do nicely together. Steel's tough, cast iron has lubricating properties.

I broke a hex head socket removing mine. Them bolts are torqued down tight. Didnt strip any though.

what tool do you use to take the head bolts out with? is it a normal socket or is it hex? and what ever it is what size is it?

It was a 10 or 12mm brake caliper hex socket thing i got from o'reilly's.

I just did mine. Use a breaker bar and a 12 point socket mine came out fine. they are tourqed down pretty tight but a good and long breaker bar will be your best friend.

Them bolts are torqued down tight.

Yes, almost as though someone specified how tight they were supposed to be.
