Ok here's the background on my car. 1992 tsi awe all stock. I bought the car with what I thought just needed a starter. Ended up needing the starter plate replaced. Anyways the car ran perfectly just started really bad. Got the car together and it drove just time and them it warmed up. Started running like crap and couldn't even get out of its own way. I figured it was running bad because it got rust in the injectors like it had when I bought it. I knew there was rust in the tank and bought a new tank off eBay, well used in really good condition. Also bought good working injectors and a new fuel filter. We blew the fuel lines out and they seem to be good. Now the car has no spark and no fuel. Haven't changed anything and I have no idea what's going on. I'm going back to work on the car tomorrow and look at the ecu. Also has no power to the crank positioning sensor. Anything else I forgot and need to check.

Try to hook up a scanner and look for codes if you can. If you have no spark and no fuel ECU may be bad. Open ECU up and look to see if there's anything burned in there.

If you have no spark or fuel than maybe the ecu. Do you have power at all, do your lights work? If not check your battery. For the fuel, can you hear the fuel pump kick on or the relay under the dash click. Also check your fuel resistor pack to see if you get power there. For spark, check the power transister by the coil pack.

by putting back together i mean putting the trans back in. i got a friend who would let me use his ecu, but would using mess anything up or should i just glance at mine first.

So I tried a working Ecu and its still not getting power to the ecu.

Check you main relay located below the radio mounted on the right side. Try using one of your friends main relay. That relay controls spark and fuel too. Maybe it went bad.

We checked that and it's fine with a multimeter. The mpi fuse was broke so we ram a jumper wire and still nothing. Does it have anything to do with the power transistor on the drivers side.

Yes that one is broke but we ran a jumper wire and still nothing

You should probably replace the fuse instead of running a jumper wire, what if something is putting too much power through... a fuse would blow again and you would know that there are issues elsewhere with power.

We changed the fuse and I have spark now. The fuel pump works when we hardwired it, but doesn't work when it is cranking. The relay by the radio is fine but idk where else to check.

The fuel pump relay runs in conjunction with the MFI relay and when both work, you need to receive a good signal from the CAS to turn on the pump.

ok we checked the wires going to the cas and have all the right voltages. is there any way to check the cas itself. also what year cas will work 91-94 since i have a 92.

So I tried a working cas and the fuel pump is still not turning on when trying to start the CA
Is there anything else I should look at.
