was going to post this in the ecmlink section but i think its a rather newbie question?

basically Im trying to tune my car and its knocking at the very start.

when ever I start a 2k rpm pull i would read a knock so i would stop and readjust.

BUT the problem is it seems like my timing map is too conservative (yet still knocking) around the 1.0 load at 2500-3000 rpm.

I looked around peoples map and its not like this. they have more timing and no knock.

what could be causing this knock?

this is my latest attempt. I decided to stop for now until i figured out that its ok to keep taking away timing.

if i do a pull from 3.5k or so it runs great. just lower rpm.

inputs?

e85 btw so im really surprise that im getting knocks.

I'm just going to point out what I notice right off the bat:

1. From what I can tell, your global fuel and deadtime are off for your injectors

2. On your timing map, you go from high to low while RPMs increase (at the same load). You want to do the opposite. The rule is - increase timing with rpm, decrease with load. Also, you have some big jumps, for example, from 5 to 16. I know this currently isn't part of your area of operation but try to smooth it out a little, just in case you dip into it.

3. On your fuel map, your target of 12.1 at WOT needs to be set at lower RPMs/Load. If you track the data log, at WOT you're targeting 12.6 in these areas.

4. You really need to dial-in your MAF...

This may give you some guidance:

first. thanks a lot for the response.

1. I have my base fuel pressure set at 40psi. so its correct(calculation by link)
as far as deadtime its set that high b/c its the only way i can get the combinedft to be at about 0+-. should I still set it different?

2. great info. will definitely follow that.

3. I dont know why I spaced out on this one LOL. will fix this too.

4. working on it. cant really set it if i cant do WOT without knock. its better though. it used to be 10 :1

aside from the afr. is there another thing i should be aiming for with the maf calibration?

and saw that link thanks

Well, your combinedft is still a little elevated so you might want to raise deadtime up a little or experiment with global some more.

On the first pull, dialing in and adjusting your fuel map might help with that knock you're seeing there. The second pull is weird though. Lots of knock...

No, not really. That's about it :thumb:

start from stratch tuning takes time. Get your fuel trims perfect at 0.0 and then use the maf comp tool to give you a referance point, then work with it from there if your at 2000 rpm add a lil at the hz on the maf table. timing should be your last thing to mess with. Dont just pull timing to get rid of knock

wait im lost. I wasnt aware that deadtime and global will need adjustment. I thought it set at idle and thats it?

I mean If you set it at idle. and experiment with it. would that mest up the idle tune?

should I be focusing on 0.0 at combine ft or ltft lo?
