Ok i got a 3.5" gm maf with my setup and i wanted a 3" gm maf so ordered 2 more 3" 2 1/2" silcone reducer couplers and got them today and i went and bough ta 3" gm maf sensor at teh local junk yard and when i go to push teh silcone reducers over the 3" gm maf it wont squeeze over it its to tight . So i measures around the 3" maf its 3" inner diameter and 3.25" outter diameter so what do i do in this case is there a 3" gm maf on the outter diameter?? Please help this really sucks cause its the second last piece to go on my car!

use a screwdriver the pry it on. start working you way all around until you get it on. i did this with mine and its super tight. works well.

I personally would try to get those on somehow before spending another $30-40 on good couplers that will work. If you can get something in there to spread it apart and kind of stretch it a little (kinda like if you had a car jack in there pushing it open) and get it to loosen up some. I had to do this for my intercooler pipes and got it to work. After that if you have some pliers that are dull enough to not rip the couplerOMG then you can get as much on as you can and grab the other side with the pilers and kinda pull it on (just make sure you don't rip it because that would suck bad). I think you can get it to give 1/4" after some good effort. Good luck:thumb:

I filled a bowl about 1 inch deep with hot water, NOT BOILING hot, but very hot. Then placed the coupler end that I needed to fit the GM mas in the bowl for a few minutes, works like a charm. It makes the silicone softer and easier to stretch over the end of the GM MAS.

What I did was to get the coupler partway on, then using a flat screwdriver thru the center of the coupler use it to make a ramp up onto the MAF and lift while pressing the coupler on and working your way around. I was like you and dident think it would fit, but it did, nice and tight, just think of it as extra protection aginst blowoff. Just dont try to put one side all the way on then try to strech the other side over it, try and keep it as square as you can. and after you get it on, enjoy the newfound quicker spool, venting, and more turbo sound... gotta love that part :thumb: and dust evean more hondas, mustangs, and camaros at the track.

 Ok boys this is what we did tonight and still no sucess.:| We took the maft to a buddy that has a lathe and machined that little lip of the ens of the maf on both sides then took it back and tyied greasing th e shit out of the inside of the coupler and on the maf part where it slides on. We tried every wich way screw drivers and its so close its not funny but it just wont go on! I guess the last thing we can try is the hot water thing! I hope it works!! Or ill have to order them ones from slowboy wich sucks more money spent...

The Water trick works.

Hippy what brand couplers do you have? How many plies? I use High Temp Silicone brand and they are 3 ply and with some muscle I can get them over. Try the close to hot water and some grease and they will go. I can get mine on just by keeping them square as was said and work them on with my fingers of the other hand, don't even need a flat blade screw driver though that would make it even easier. Keep at it, you'll get it. mark

I agree with brute, just buy the correct couplers. They work awesome.
