i WANTED TO KNOW WHAT POSITIVE AFFECTS I WOULD POSSIBLY GAIN BY ADDING A GM MAF AND MAF TRANSLATOR??? :talon:

1. The GM MAF is less retrictive then the MAS which will be important when you get above 400hp.
2. IT offers additional tuning similar to an SAFC, some use them in tandem.
3. It well help you to use the search function.
3.5 It will unstick your caps lock key.
4. Since it is blow thru it will allow you to VTA and make your BOV sound that much more mad tyte.

Ive had the blow though setup on my car now for about 4 months. I put it on when the car was close to stock with exception of exhaust /flywheel. ANyway, the car spooled a lot quicker with the gm maf in the blow through. i remember full boost was about 3-400 rpms sooner.

i just put in my new motor and using the blow though im not getting full boost at 2300rpms!

Anyway. the i love the gm maf. the translator sucks and does nothing if u ask me. i sugguest getting an safc-2 if u get the gm maf/translator because it sucks for trying to tune.

I have using the MAF-T for nearly a year. It is set-up in a blow thru position. I use a modded Dejon upper IC pipe. This has allowed me to setup a true Cold Air Intake with the filter in the place of the stock sidemount IC as I have a FMIC. I cannot compare the translators tuning with any other system because it is all I use and have no problems. I do have the newest version the 2.1 I believe which allows finer tuning for WOT operation. I also like the support from www.fullthrottletech.com. Mark

Is there a certain way the gm maf has to be positioned? Like the splitter being vertical or something?

There is an arrow for directional flow and the plug for the harness faces down. mark

Venting the BOV doesn't just make a cool sound though. Theoretically it keeps that hot post-compressed air out of your intake, thus reducing intake air temps a bit.

Yes that is true, but I don't think it has allowed anyone to realize any horsepower gains.

If the IC is doing it's job the charge air should not be very hot. Even when I recirculated with an open filter element there still was the noise of the BOV. Mark

I've been using the GM mas for about a year as well now. I wanted it for the reduction in spool time. And it did drop my spool time 3-400 rpms. 20 psi on an evo3 16g by 3k after the mas install.

I don't much care for it for tuning anymore. It was sufficient for a while but i'm getting to a point where i need more fine tuning but for basic tuning it was fine. I also had problems compensating for my 650 cc injectors on it. I fixed that with a keydiver chip.

And some asked above about the position of the splitter. Yes it does have to be placed a certain way. The splitter must be placed vertically.

You can find all the info you need on the translator here.

No air-to-air intercooler is efficient enough to reduce intake temps lower than ambient. Maybe in a perfect world :thumb:

What about those with the dsmlink should they still get the maft? Also what about getting a gm maf and installing in stock position of dsm maf? Still notice a difference or not worth it?

I just installed the GM MAFT in blow confing a few days ago, I absolutely LOVE it. Although I can't comment on spool up because it would be my luck the same day the 1G exhaust manifold decides to develop a huge crack... So while my engine suddenly got WAY more responsive the turbo lag suddenly got alot worse.... 14b spools at like 3300rpm now LOL WTF :coy: :( :( :( :(
