hey guys i just got some ngk brp6es plugs and some ngk wires for my car..the only thing is, is that i'm a fool and i'm having trouble changing the plugs :( .. i have the correct socket with the rubber insert for the plugs, and i have a short extension..
the hole is so deep to get to the plug, and i may need a longer extension.. but it seems that whenever i get the socket onto the plug, and i twist, the rubber just twists around the socket, and doesn't unscrew the plug...it doesn't grip on good.

should i take off the valve cover when changing them? or do i just suck at engines..

thanks

Yeah its a pain in the ass. You might need to go to autozone and get a thin socket. I had to buy a snap on one off ebay cause the socket kept popping off the extension.

NGK sparkplugs were once the small sparkplug socket, I believe they used to be 5/8".
Now they are the larger one.
I believe it's a 13/16".
Shine a light down in there and make sure you have the correct socket.
Oh, and don't forget to set the gap to .028".
Oh, and don't forget to get a longer extension.

damn the 75pc craftsman toolset i just buoght from sears!!! it came with only the 5/8" socket with rubber insert, and a very short extension.. only like 3 inches. :cry:

also, i bought a screw in type compression guage, does this mean i have to fish down in the hole and screw it in from 5 inches away? LOL

Easiest way to change spark plugs on a 4g63 head(Alex's method :) :
1.get a cheap autozone 13/16's FORM FITTED socket(usualy doesn't come with the rubber thing, but has the bottom flexible socket): $5??
2.get a "O" ring rubber from Home Depot that will fit in there;
3.GO ahead and change the spark plugs;
This way you won't have problems with the socket not coming off the spark plug after you torque it/or getting stuck in there :) I just hate when that happens!!!
