1999 Gst Spyder, it's been having some really strange problems. The first day I bought it, I was racing someone, ran the rpms pretty high, and the car died. I found out the next day that I blew one of the coil packs, no biggie... same thing happened to my other car. Last night, I raced my sister's car (poo'd on her in case you were interested). After heavy acceleration, a red light was coming ahead, so I started downshifting. It turned green, so in second gear, around 3k rpms, I started pressing the gas, no power. The same as when my co il pack blew. Rpms on stock gauge read 0 but I could hear the engine still on. I pulled over, tr ied to start the car, silence. It turns out I blew the ignition switch 30amp fuse. Thank God I pulled over into an AutoZone parking lot!!!
Anyways, I think it's interesting that my ignition system failed 2x while racing. Is this common for gst? My old n/a never did anything like this. Or is it just my car? Do I need ignition system upgrades? The car is stock besides a greddy bov and full exhaust.
It also turned out that I installed a hks turbo timer earlier that day. After the car died, the turbo timer hasn't been getting any power. That probably has something to do with it??
