okay i understand dsms are over 10 years old now but this is getting really frustrating..
has anyone ever had their rubber waterlines(not turbo water line nor the main line behind the manifold from the waterpump) tearing/ripping around the engine bay?
it seems to be happening to be once a week.looks like this<img src="http://i35.tinypic.com/10z0qav.jpg"> ive replaced about 6 lines around the engine bay and on my way home the line that goes to the bottom of the TB tore! pretty embarassing when theres steam coming out of the engine bay and your driving in a rainy weather(very noticeble) and everyones laughing at you :notgood:.

im so sick of having to replace all these lines..im just curious, has anyone else had this problem before??? how many more to come? i cant seem to find any thread regarding this issue..it takes about 5~10 minutes but it just happens so unexpectly, im even scared to take long trips with my car =/

anyone else or does my car need more time/effort/TLC ?

I would say give it a little TLC. Rubber lines tend to age, and start to dry rot and crack. It's fairly common for any older car to burst a rubber line that hasn't been replaced ever, usually it's a radiator hose however.

Since you're replacing that one, now might be a good time to replace any others that haven't been done (turbo coolant and/or heater hoses, etc). That way, you should be good for another 10 years. That's what I just did recently on my 1g with 85k miles.

yeah i guess so. im trying to figure out how many of these lines i need to replace. they seem to be all over the place. the lines arent that costly, its about 2 bucks for a foot. but the coolant+water i have to put in everytime this damn thing blows is eating up my green :notgood:

You're cooling system is only as strong as the weakest link. So if you replace one that burst. The next weakest one is the one that will blow due to the fact that you can now hold pressure for that one that you replaced. There should be 9 hoses. One from turbo to housing. Two from TB to housing. Two from OFH to housing. Upper and Lower Radiator hoses. And two heater core hoses. Replace them all at the same time and also replace your clamps the stock ones suck balls.

yup it can be a pain chainging all those hoses. has the car heat up on you when hoses are fine? if not then damn i say check all hoses really good. i dont think these hoses have that much pressure on them so that they just tare like that.

well it basically started its trend when i got my entire cooling system replaced(samco rad hoses up low/punishment racing rad/slimfans/new cap/ghetto fabed vitamin water coolant reseavor etc.) so have 8 replaced total. i think this is my last one to go :D

WOOT

no the car never heated up when the lines were still functional. of course, the CTS stopped working since last week so i have no clue what was going on. a bottle of water wetter+2.0L pepsi bottle filled with water was always handy in the backseat incase of a unexpected lost of coolant :thumb:

thats what sucks with 13 year old cars, Were just getting them as everything is getting old and needing to be replaced. Iv only needed to replace my upper rad hose. But Id check all hoses and make sure their not cracked or broke. I didn't find a small crack in my boost hose. it cost me a turbo.
Lucky it was my stock T-25.

replaced the last of my line today and no more problems for another 10 years hopefully:D

yes a yellow gsx is pretty rare haha im getting a alpine white paintjob next weekend

Did you check your motor mounts? A broken motor mount can cause the engine to move in shifting an all. I had that problem with an old ford. Every time i got on it with the broken mount it would eather tear a vac line or threw the cv boot out.

While your under the hood playing with hoses.. Check that EGR.. they are a BI#$H to replace at night on the side of the road.
Beshure to ziptie All your vacume and boost lines (instead of metal clamps). :thumb:

i have had my dsm about 6 months and have hade to replace 3 hoses except mine have had little cracks that are hard to find

EGR...im in process on making a homemade blockoff plate. i heard its a pita also haha
yeah i still have alot of work needed to be done to the car. the throttle body got stuck open today on my way to work. bounced the limiter for about 8 secs before i shut it off.

the shaft gets stuck somehow...
