Has any one disabled a output shaft?

Hello rebuilding my 420A transmission. I have completed the input shaft as per the service manual. How ever the service manual does not show you how to break down the output shaft. I have the snap ring off the shaft but I'm not sure if there is anything in the way and I dont want to force the gears off the shaft. If any one has insight or has a link can you please share it with me?

Thanks

well if theres a snap ring on one end the stuff comes off that way, so then its a matter of finding what you can press against and proceeding carefully

It is an interference fit design, you are going to need a 20 ton press or larger to seperate the output shaft in a fixture. It is servicable with the proper tools even though the manual and manufacturer says it is not servicable.

When reassembling you will freeze the output shaft and use a warmed up gear (~200*F) and press the 3/4 cluster back on.

It's a lot of fun. Almost as much fun as replacing transfer case input sleeves on a 3000gt that are interference fit. If you have access to a voltage inductor (mini-ductor) this will aide in the seperation process.
