Hard to start

Since I've had my 1997 Gsx it's always been hard to start. But once I finally get it started the first time, it's always easy to start after that. I've replaced the fuel pump, spark plugs, spark plug wires. Any ideas? Thanks

Replace your engine coolant temp sensor (ECTS). There are several temp sensors. This one sends the signal to your ECU. The ECU asks this sensor "What is the coolant temperature?" , signal is sent to the ECU, then the ECU looks at this information and determines how much fuel to send.

My car is actually doing the same thing. I haven't put my 2G sensor in my car yet since the 6 bolt start. I have to use starting fluid to start it. Once it is warmed up, it's easy to start.

The ECTS is on the rear of the thermostat housing. The end of it is a plug type thing. The other one near it has one prong on it. This one is for your OEM temp gauge.

Try pumping the gas pedal 2-3 times before cranking it over. I used to do that on my old car that ran a carb setup and that usually got it going when the weather was super cold. Not sure if it will work for fuel injection as I have not had to do it on my gsx; but it's worth a shot - let me know if it works.

Bro, this is fuel injection, that system applies only on the carburators, which you pump gas through the pedal, Fuel injection works electronically and not mechanicly as carburators.

OP.

CTS is your #1 suggestion, 2, would be to check your fuel pressure, I had this problem long time ago and my fpr didn't hold pressure very well and it used to take a wile to turn ON, some times I had to wait to for the starter to cool down and not burn it out.

Also do a walk throw all the components to see if they are adjusted or working properly, (tps, free of boost leaks etc, etc).

Having all adjusted right and free of boost leak will help to bring it back to normal.

Coolant sensor, give you trouble when cold and start fine when hot

If you replace your coolant temp sensor get an OEM one. Auto parts store ones are hit and miss.

When you get in the car in the morning does all the electrical components light up fine? Did you check your battery?
