hard to start cold

when my car sits for more than six or more hours it starts really hard, it will crank over and start after like ten times, or with starting fluid it will also run rough until warm and doesnt seem to have all the power it should. it has a new battery, new plugs, fuel filter, and a full tune up, we tried two fuel pumps and they seem to be working fine and we tried another computer and it did the same thing, i have also replaced both coolant sensors. any ideas on what this is, ps the cel light is also on it comes on after about a minute of startup and stays on the whole time.

Can you tell me where they are located? How to check them? My apologies for beginner questions.

It's right below the thermostat housing. When you pull it, grab a multimeter and four seperate bowls of water. Heat the water to 32*, 68*, 104*, and 176* (any good cooking thermometer that reads up to boiling will work).

Put the sensor in the different bowls and measure the resistances among the

32* - 5.1-6.5 KΩ
68* - 2.1-2.7 KΩ
104* - 0.9-1.3 KΩ
176* - 0.26-0.36 KΩ

Make sure you drain the radiator so no coolant spills out when you pull the sensor.

And buy a haynes/chilton's manual. Or a shop manual on CD, or both.

I read the OP's post again and my problem does differ from his. My problem is when I am starting my car and it is cold it does not start unless i give it a little gas (then it is fine). My idle is at the line in between the one and the zero (i am guessing 500 rpms?). is that correct? Do you think I should adjust my throttle screw?
