How much could I get a set of used stock-sized hard intake pipes from air filter to TB? I have a 14b now and never plan on more than 15 lbs boost and if it goes bad same 15 lbs on s16g with stock I/C.

Other than looking for a little cooler air temps and better flow I figure hard pipes would elliminate possibility of leaks.

BTW i have a N/T Throttle Body in my basement that came off my N/T 1g so if I go to hard pipes I guess that would be the time to put it on? I'm ASSuming the seals of a stock N/T TB might be in better shape than seals on a similiar milaged turbo TB, plus it has that larger opening right?

The seals will most likely leak on both throttle bodies, either one you use you should probably replace the seals. It's cheap and pretty easy. Here is the VFAQ: Throttle Body O-Ring. I would use the actual seals though, not o-rings. They are available from JNZ, STM and Extreme PSI.

The non-turbo has a slightly larger opening but the both have the same size throttle plate. Some claim the n/t is better performance wise but I don't see it. Whichever one you choose will work fine though.

As far as the price, shop around. I would expect it to cost around $100-$150 or so for the intake pipe and upper and lower intercooler pipes. Check the classifieds and ebay.

Hope this helps!

+1 Classified adds, there are a lot of people getting rid of these set ups because FMIC are cheaper now and overall better for our application.

Other than looking for a little cooler air temps and better flow I figure hard pipes would eliminate possibility of leaks.

Definitely increases flow no matter what, but I have found that my hard piping now retains the heat in the engine bay (my piping is also SS and not aluminum), but I have a FMIC to compensate.

As far as the TB, they covered it above.

Punishment racing has a set of the upper intercooler and lower intercooler piping for a reasonable $135. It comes with couplers and clamps, and a knock off BOV, your stock 1g that you have now is more reliable.

Dejon Powerhouse also makes the same set up, your choice of powder coating colors. Also more choices in BOV flange, but you are paying 65 more I think. They also have the intake piping for the turbo avaible.

Many vendors, Extreme psi, STM, dejon sell intake for the turbo and cater to different tuning designs (MAS, Speed Desity (MAF-less) 1g 2g 3g mas.
If you are sticking with the stock sidemount then I wouldnt worry about fitment issues, if you eve do upgrade to a FMIC, the intake pipe might need to be adjusted depending on the manufacture design of the FMIC piping.

goodluck

Are hard pipes worth buying for running 14-15lbs with stock everything? I'm tight on money so wouldn't want to pay $100 or so unless I'm going to notice some decent improvements..

IMHO wait until you have the turbo you plan on running for a while before buying the pipe. You want it to match up to the inlet to avoid any turbulence. I personally ran the stock intake pipe for 3 years until I got the HX40 on and now I have a 4" intake pipe.

Best to buy once.

However if you are going to get one for the stock style turbo, just go on eBay and search for the company "chromeintakes". They make a $50 Injen style intake. There is a review posted up as well on the pipe.

Well I'm running the 14b and would only replace if it ever needed it. The replacement would no doubt be a s16g.

If that's the case then just go with the eBay pipe I mentioned or a Dejon Tool pipe in the appropriate size. Some will say to use a FP intake but I don't like the abrupt reduction in size at the turbo inlet which causes turbulence.
