Well, I finally got to take out my stock exhaust and install my o2 elim tb exhaust. Now, the hangers that are on the exhaust are an odd shape. They basically have 90* bends about 1" from the tip and another one after that. I have no idea on how to install the exhaust with these hangers. Do you just punch a hole in the rubber part and slide them in there or what? Pics would be perfect.

Nevermind. Figured it out. One more thing though, did anybody have any major fitment issues with the hangers? So far, I can only use 2 of the hangers on the rear 2 sections. Also, the slip-fit connection between the muffler piece and the long straight pipe is anything but a "slip-fit" as it takes a lot of effort just to get it connected. This whole install is really starting to piss me off.

I had the same issues, along with some others. I'm scrapping my RNR and going back to stock.

I'm going to take my RNR to an exhaust shop and have them fix it. It hits on my rear end alittle and makes my bumper black. I learned my lesson. It was cheap but in this case you get what you pay for.

Mine fit perfect. No complaints, I did use exhaust clamps over the slip fit to ensre there was no exhaust leaks. It is routed very well, better than most high end exhuasts. Worth the wait :thumb:

I had some fittment issues as well, but very nice exhaust, and I really like the sound of it.

I've dealt with 2 cars with RNR both been nice pieces and if your having issues with finding the wholes in the rubber hangers chances are it might be the operator not the exhausts fault.

You do get what you pay for, but theirs just some people who need to pay to have it done for them.

I had the same problem but I did get it all to fit up right in the end, you just have to have an extra hand to help out. I took off the rubber hanger things and pushed out the metal sleeves to make more room, then i put them on the hangers on the exhaust and had someone hold it up while i slipped them back on under the car. I had a major problem with some weird hanger on the exhaust pushing tightly agains the driveshaft. I didnt notice this until I test drove it and there was a terrible scraping sound. I had to aw that thick steel hanger off from under the car  no fun. All in all I am very satisfied with the exhaust though.

I did have a few hanger issues when I put mine in. I found that I could bend the hangers a bit to get them where they needed to be. I just used the end of a large crescent wrench. My rubber hangers worked fine. I don't remember pulling metal bushings out, but, I may have. I also used band clamps because I think they look better. I did have the burned bumper for a bit, but, spend some time adjusting the back hangers and it fits perfectly now. The only issue I came into was my hi-flo cat shields came loose and burned half of the insides out. I have since replaced it with another hi-flo and it fit perfectly without adjusting anything. Bare in mind, this is all on a 1g.

My install job was not the problem. I bend hangers and adjusted every thing within reason. It would hit the rear end or make the bumper black. I chose the bumper black.

Well, I re-hang the exhaust and I got one more hanger in, still like 3 hangers are off though. The cat back part seems pretty steady, doesn't move around much. The pipe is kinda close to the rear diff though. This install isn't that great mainly because I have only 2 jack stands, which I used for the front of the car, so the rear is lower than usual. On the bright side, I learned how to squirm on my back to move somewhat quickly underneath the car. :p

I wonder why rnr has so many hanger problems in their exhaust systems.

Also, while we are the subject of this exhaust system, how much clearance of the oil filter is necessary? I can change my filter without any clearance problems but while the filter is on, the filter is about 1 inch away from the exhaust piping. Is this enough or should I use exhaust wrap? Thanks.

That is about how far mine is right now. Are you worried about heating up the filter too much or something?

Yeah, I mean it is only one inch away from the plastic. Should I be worried about this or should I get some exhaust wrap?

Mines the same way, hasn't been a problem. As far as getting the hangers to work, I had to bend mine quite a bit, and had a problem with the exhaust hitting the gas tank heat shield. I just kept adjusting (bending) the hangers until I got everything where I wanted it. If your having too hard of a time doing it, go to a shop and have them move the hangers so they fit better.
