I'm sure the answer is that i can't do anything but.....

I got a 98 RS w/ Halo Projectors and recently bought a h3 5000k 35w kit from SharpHID.com (awesome kit btw) for my low beams.

Prob is the lights don't shine straight they shine down in a V shape (except for a purple circle where they should be shining) with my HID kit but work fine w/ stock H1's and H3's.

People i know have been telling me i gotta get rid of the headlights or the kit, that I can't use both. From what I have read there is also no way to reposition the Halo Low Beams.

So any suggestions?

I know that their is special projector headlights for HID kits that can handle the heat. I would scrap that projectors and keep the hit. The aftermarket projectors are hard to adjust and never give you the same light beam as the stock headlights.

My ex- talon came with Projectors I got them adjusted and they worked fine, you can adjust them..

Your aftermarket "Projector" headlights aren't headlights really, Just plastic and glass molded to look nice. That's IT! Nothing more and nothing less. Your fog lights put out a better beam patern then they do. They were not made to be used on the streets, only for looks. They just half assed everything. I've owned a few. The only way your going to get good lighting is to do a REAL Projector Retrofit. Sorry to say. Throw those HID's you have in your fog lights and retrofit your headlights to hold a real projector housing, and put HID's in that. You wont regret it.

You can adjust alllllll day long, you will not get any true LEGAL light out of them. I've done the retrofit on my 98 GST, AZDAVE has done it on his RS-T. There are tons of threads about it.

You can adjust the headlights....there are 2 phillips heads on the back for each bulb. The problem with the hid kit that you have is that the light is uncontrolled. If you look at a car with true hids it is in a projector lense and on the high end cars they have a thin curtain on the edge of the light. I have had friends use similar hid kits and they work but they are the kind of headlights that piss people off because they blind the driver coming towards you. Hope this helps.

It's simply that the projector design of the aftermarket lamps is really bad. They don't work well with halogens and not much better with HIDs.

My friends around here who run them have an okay beam on the road but a large angled beam also projects upward into the trees and street signs.

Ok i thought about this all yesterday, just want to know if it sounds viable since what you all said is true about the crappy beam that comes ou even w/ Halogenst.

I came up with:

1) What if i stick in those LED H1's (show lights) in Projectors and get some fog lights and stick the HID's in there and use it as the main light source.... I mean as long as it looks like my Headlights are on i shouldn't get a ticket right?

OR

2) 5800K Superwhite Xenon w/ HID Fogs

Headlights & Fog Lights - link

I'm guessing that #2 is prob gonna be more reasonable then #1 but i just don't trust those ultra white xenons for longevity and I don't really wanna throw out the projectors just yet & money is tight... then again Fogs & LEDs im looking at $100 anyways haha

N00b move on my behalf

thanks again to everyone who posted

HID's in Foglights would put out some decent lighting, however it is still NOT legal and even more so, you might get pulled over. I used to drive around with HID Fog Lights and my parking lights on and got a huge ticket and the cop was yellin asking me wtf I was thinking.

Seriously, Listen to Dave and I, convert your headlights to REAL Projectors, it is not hard.

take it for what it worth...but my buddy has a 07 si civic...he bought some ebay projectors for his car, and we installed some hid's. i was so amazed at how clean the cut=off was, and the light spread was amazing!OMG(compared to my 2g e-bay projectors with hid kit.) didnt look as beautiful as a full retro-fit, but dammit its dam near close to it! so long story short he got rid of the car, he gave me his lights, and i busted them open and did a retro fit to my 2g projectors!;)

super cost effective, and im in love with the beam pattern, and NEVER get flashed on the road!:sneaky: wish it wasnt -15 degrees here in chicago, if not id have pics for you guys.. ill try and post back with some soon.

yeah i would say throw out the projectors you got and get the tsx projectors and retrofit them in because all and i mean all of the aftermarket projectors you can get off like ebay suck compared to a retrofit with the tsx projectors. even the stock projectors that come in my celica and the stock hid that come in the 03 and above celicas really suck compared to the tsx retrofit IMHO do the tsx retrofit so you can keep your projectors in your lowbeams

So I know this is kinda old but I did get my headlights to light up the road.

I added Universal P1 Projector fogs and aimed them well. The car lights up the road and does not bother anyone... and all it took me was $30 (for the fogs), $85 for another HID Kit, a little modding for the mount, & splitting the power so the Headlights & Fogs turn on simultaneously. I must say I'm happy with these result: only $115 and it looks dope with matching fogs!

I'm running the headlights w/ 35w 6000k H1s & Fogs w/ 35w 6000k H3's

looks beautiful I'll post up a pic soon :D
