I was driving the other day and was givin 'er heck and was kinda alarmed. At first I thought my ACT 2100 had given up the ghost. But after some careful scrutiny it turns out I was lightin up all four (or more accurately 3 tires) on the roll from 1st, second and third. It was kinda a crappy day out and a nice thin slippery coating of rain on the asphalt. After I figured it out, I took it on dry pavement and voila what I thought was clutch slippage went away.
I was wondering exactly what the spec and layout on my Talon a 96 AWD TSI has as far as is it a four bolt rear or three bolt and what do i have in it for LSDs? Is it LSD rear and open front?

Haha!

2Gs have 4 bolt rears. Only the rear has a lsd, the front is open.

I have/had been very happy with that clutch. I have a Jun lightweight cromoly flywheel and have been totally happy with the combo so far. I was really hoping it wasn't the clutch because I recently ruptured a disc in my back and partially lost the use of my left arm. One thing I had learned replacing the clutch and flywheel myself is that you need a couple good strong arms to do it. I think somewhere in the future I might upgrade to clutch type front LSD. I'm getting the broken disc replaced and should be good to go in a 4 months.

I liked my 2100 when I had it too.

Good luck with your surgery.

Good luck with you surgery and i'm glad the clutch isn't slipping. We both know from the pain post what it's like to be partially crippled and having to do work on your var ( especially a tranny/clutch swap )

It's nice to feel that kinda power even if it is a tad slippery out isn't it... When I first got this combo together i thought i was slipping the 2600 I put in, but it was the same result as you, the ground was so cold i was spinning both fronts in third and 4th (once in 5th even), but as soon as we got some warmer temps here ( i didn't beat on it during my trip just to be safe, except for making sure she was properly broken in)

Yeah it kinda surprised me. I think being able to lose traction on an awd car from roll even with wet pavement is an accomplishment. I remember I spent a few thousand dollars modding the car before I could roast all four from a dead stop launch. My friend's Civic that is putting down 280 whp can roast the tires all the way thru 4th. I know I have been getting some great drifts on 90 degree turns and decent curves on dry pavement and that in itself is an accomplishment.

Man. After doing months of work on the Talon and hunting down and fixing a myriad of boost leaks (some minor and some huge) and getting a 2G socketed eprom ecu with stage 3 Keydriver chip I finally got it running really strong! Unfortunately after about 25 hard launches my ACT2100 is toast. She no wanna work. It slipped hard last night all the way thru 1st and all the way thru 2nd before I got off it. I have had it slip a few times before that as well. But not as badly. And usually it seems to cool off or rebound and run slip free for months. Not so this time. It slips hard every hard launch now. I don't feel bad though. This clutch and flywheel combo has 42k on it! I toasted it at 15psi but the car is now setup to run 21 psi with no problems but of course with it slipping at 15 I haven't even tried 21.
Approx numbers...I am exceeding the limits of the 2100 so it's time for an upgrade. I have the Jun cro moly flywheel and from what I have heard people do not have good luck resurfacing them. I was warned against it. It'll make an nice wallhanging. I think I am going to go to either an ACT 2600 or 2900 with a Fidanza flywheel.

All you need is a 2600 man... Its plenty. I actually went from a 2600 down to a 2100 and i can barely feel a difference besides the fact that i have to be careful not to burn it up to much or it slips more than what i want..
