Had a Wreck. Need Input.

Well guys, haven't even had my DSM for 6 months and I get T-boned. Even the police report says she made an illegal U-turn into me. I have liability and she kinda has insurance. She is covered in her vehicle(which she wasn't driving, she was driving an old vehicle of her mother's) and her mother doesn't have insurance on that particular car.
Good news is, I THINK that her insurance is going to cover her. But her insurance is one of those over the telephone/ through the mail insurance companies that don't do credit checks.

I just don't know what to do. I know they are going to total my car. She destroyed my door and driver's side fender. She event bent up the A pillar and cracked the windshield.
When she hit me, the car went into the curb which screwed up the rear suspension and destroyed the right rear wheel.

I want my car back. Also, i think it's only fair to give me enough money to fix my car because now its going to be a rebuilt wreck. I think I should get depreciation money and money for my inconvenience. But insurance companies aren't usually fair.

Any insight or tips would help.

Sorry bout the ride...
Check w/ your insurance to see if you are covered for uninsured motorists.
That will allow you to get the damages fixed. I am pretty sure that the basic coverage aka bottom of the bucket insurance policy should have that in the contract.
At least here in CA.

I doubt they will give you the amount needed to repair it if it was considered totaled. You will get KBB value.

Same thing happened to my moms mint condition 91 tbird w/ 60k miles. We got t-boned & insurance gave us 2k and totaled the car. I about wanted to beat that kids face in after that. Ruined a perfect car & we got 2k...
F paying all this money for insurance, just to have them bend you over in the end.

It seems like the people who cause accidents like this almost never have insurance or has very little. I got hit twice seven years ago while driving my Honda. Both people had no insurance and the first guy left the scene. I had full coverage so, I had to get my own car fixed. Good luck with this. Hopefully, you have uninsured motorist coverage.

I've been reading about insurance policies.
Of course, the insurance company will give me a small amount for being in the wreck, seeing as I went to the doctor and all.
And I have every recite for everything that is on the car or anything that has been done. All maintenance was done at the Mitsu dealer.
Also, any type of necessary maintenance done in the past 18 months i can get at least 50% of the cost back.

And I might be able to squeeze the cost of wheels out of them.
But I had $900 of maintenance done 3 months ago.

Worse part is, her insurance company keeps dodging me. They say they are investigating to decide whether or not they are going to cover her as primary or secondary.

Does anyone know the rules of Uninsured motorist coverage? I was told it just covered injuries. We had $20,000 of Uninsured motorist coverage, but within the past 6 months we upped it to $100,000 dollars.

Do you have full tort? You may be able to sue for loss of time at work, injuries and any damage done to the car and your body. If their insurance doesnt cover it, trust me, your insurance company will get money one way or another. They do no want to front the bill. Either way, it will get worked out. It just may take longer than what you want it to.

Been there done that, When i got hit in LA, by the time I got to the wrecker yard(next afternoon) most of my parts were missing for some reason. Had to go to court and the court made ther wrecker service pay for the parts(turbo header,turbo, rims,and other lil things coasting them 1200.00 judge made them pay cost) that were missing. He said that they car was abandoned, funny thing is I had the police report from the accident...

Sorry to hear about he car man, it will work out just be on the insurance company to do their job..

randomhero, contact your insurance and tell them that person's insurance is dodging you. And since they wont pay it that your insurance is obligated to pay under your "uninsured motorists" part of your coverage. Your insurance company won't like this and will threaten to sue the other company, who will in turn fix your car so they don't get dragged into a lawsuit. If their insurance decides not to pay, your insurance might pay for the repairs, and then just sue the lady. Either way you should be covered. And if not, threaten to drop your insurance company.

Looks like it's fixable since she hit you high and not down where the seams are at when the factory welded the body together where then it would be a bent frame.

Granted, the ins company will kill it as a total due to its age (all of us DSM'ers should think about since we're driving 15plus year old cars..). See if they can get you the book value money and let you keep the car.

Yeah, the insurance hasn't even looked at the car yet.
But, I had it towed to a body shop that belongs to a friend to dodge the cost of storage at the wrecker's place.

The body shop guy told me that it's fixable...but then again he said he could fix a lot of things. He is the one who informed me of the bent A-pillar. I've found a new door and fender for $100. New Windshield will run me $150. One new wheel(granted that's all I'll need) is gonna run me about $250!! Then, I don't even know what wrong with the rear suspension. I think a shock was bent. I have no clue what it will cost to replace the KYB Gr-2(s) and the Eibach spring(s). Then the paint...The guy I got the car from was very particular and he had them paint the car kind of a different shade and had them go heavy with the clear. So, I don't know if the whole car will have to be painted.

2 summers ago, I had a similar accident. Woman ran a stop sign and t-boned my car at ~30kmh, right into the driver side door, probably about a foot to the right of where it looks like you got hit. Even at that speed, I think that if the car would have been hit on the wheels, definitely a total. Luckily, all the damage was confined to the door, which was really bashed in good, as well as the left side of my head.

The woman had some sense and full insurance, she admitted to running the stop, so her insurance covered everything and I didn't pay a cent, and my premiums didn't go up or anything.

Hopefully your situation has a "good" resolution too, and you get the car back and running eventually. Good luck!

if ya plan on getting it fixed i have some parts for that side that is good if ya need them IL hook ya up on them for a good price but you don't wanna ship them that can get costly i got hit in the passenger door the same way after i had my car 6 months i found a body for 300 on the classifieds here and i am swapping everything over to it because a body shop wanted 4000$ to fix mine but mine was a lot worse looking then yours .

I know how you feel man. Same thing happened to me, a blonde on her cell phone pulled out right in front of me and i TBONED the SHIZZLE outta her. She got the ticket it was her fault but im the one who got screwed in the end. SHe had some E insurance that took about 2 and half months to pay me. When they did, they said your car is worth 1500 bux. On top of that i was 10% at fault for being on the road so they knocked 10% off the 1500 bux and cut me a check for some dumb amount that barely bought me a honda.
