I just hacked my MAS and it idles like crap. I can WOT the car and it will just chill for a few seconds and then it goes... I really wish this had not been a part of the Free Mods listed on this site, since the only difference I can see with absolute certainty is that it has made things more difficult for me... :notgood:

Is there anywhere I can get the honey combs? Any other fix for this?

Thanks...

:dsm:

I took out all the honeycombs and even with making adjustments, the Talon ran like crap. I replaced the two larger central honeycombs on my 2G maf and left the two smaller slices out and it has worked just fine.
Hey whiteflash; Is there a difference in the EVO Mas? Do you mean an older generation of EVO MAS or a MAS from an EVO8?

Dont quote me on this, but if I remember right the EVO 8 MAS matches up pretty closely to 650cc injectors, making it a good point to start for tuning.

The turbo side of the EVO MAS is round, not oval shaped like the 2G MAS. So you would need a different intake pipe.

"Hacking" the MAF is one of the dumbest things to do honestly. The honey combs are there for a reason and that is to even out the air flow so it can be read correctly by the MAF, kind of like a filter it'll "straighten" out the air so it can be read more accuratley and easier. That way you aren't just sucking up air which can be different velocitys at certain points and that confuses the MAF which is why your car runs like shit.

Ok so I customed a mesh screen to attempt to create the turbulence needed to idle properly and I adjusted the MAS screw to go more lean or rich and this has helped but I don't think there see a solid way of going around the honeycombs... grrr
