So RRE did a little mini tune on my car about 3 years ago and took out the lower and side screens in my maf. I have a FMIC and ran a 4in pvc pipe up to the filter after cutting a hole under the filter. Since then my car seems to jump in light throttle applications and if I am at speed on the highway and take it out of gear it will die. Is it possible that the turbulent air is messing up the maf reading?

Yes it's possible, there's really no reason to pull the honeycombs in a 2g maf sensor, it doesn't help flow, it just screws things up.

Are the LTFT's dialed in pretty good with the SAFC. Even though it is hacked, you should still be able to tune around it unless it is EXTREMELY hacked. If you can see if your LTFT's are in spec that would help, otherwise you should just replace the 2G MAS and redo your SAFC tune. The stock 2G mas will meter far more airflow than your 16G can push.

I had the car dyno tuned at an evo place up in colton, ca. Forget what it was called. I am just assuming that the LT are as good as the FT. It holds a solid 10.5 afr at Ft. I want to get a new maf and my little ram air duct working. I can feel the difference when I am on the throttle on the road. Feels much better than without it. Just LT that jumps and hesitates.

LTFT = Long Term Fuel Trim

Lo Hz, Mid Mhz, Hi Hz (all based on airflow, read by mas)

What you are experiencing with your lo/mid's is probably miscalibration. The Hi hz to WOT is probably calibrated which is why it holds a solid 10.5:1 afr.

No matter, there is no point to hacking the 2g mas, replace and recalibrate! :)

Well, I kinda knew that that would fix my problem. I have just had it hacked for so long now, and didn't really notice the problem to much till I started having major engine problems. Blew the rings, got a new motor; blew the head gasket, got a cometic one. So many problems! Geesh! Gotta love my DSM baby!!
